New Miami Vice series, 2021

I got goosebumps watching this teaser, everything about it. There are about half a dozen of these on Youtube, all with the old gang back in Miami. From what I have been able to research there is a pilot that was shot just before the Pandemic in 2020. As to if it will continue to a weekly show? I don’t know but these teasers have the look... the feel that was Miami Vice in the 1980s. Check out the look on Don Johnson’s face at the 1:20 mark, and the Testa-Rosa! Come on NBC, don’t tease me, bring this back!

One of my favorite shows "back in the day". Definitely was must-see TV on Friday nights.
Great music, decent actors and good guest stars.
Sadly, I don’t think the old show holds up well today in syndication.
The cars are old, the clothes are obsolete and when you see Crockett on the original Motorola K phone it’s funny.
However, none of this takes away from how well it worked when it was on TV in the late 80’s.

Loved it. I watch those from time to time... often just to be reminded of songs I’ve forgotten.

Also, as a cop, I LOL when they have 2.5 officer involved shootings per episode, among other things.

I can remember buying a Beta VCR simply because that was the simplest way to watch TV (standard def) in stereo. Which was NOVEL.

As an 80s kid, Miami Vice is awesome. If they are wearing pastel clothes, speaking over-dramatically and driving supercars I am like totally in this, for sure.

This is good news for a lot of people working in Hollywood.
I'm sure a lot of folks were worried someone might have to come up with a new idea.

Not sure if clip is for new series or a well done compilation done by a fan. Original was must see tv Friday nights before going out.... I would certainly check out reboot if it is legit.

I used to have a pastel green suit with a black muscle shirt .... didn’t look nearly as cool on me as it did on Don Johnson

It’s real, there are outlines of five episodes, I have found about six teasers on Youtube. Check out the teaser with Castillo and Crocket, drinking coffee and discussing what needs to be done. They are both in their 70s but I wouldn’t mess with either of them. I can’t find out anything about when or if it will show.

It's part compilation. The armored car and bank scenes are from Den of Thieves (great movie btw).

Can tell that there was no common thread in the spliced scenes in the teaser.

Not doubting there is a possible filming of a modern day Miami Vice, but this is clearly mixed with scenes from another movie.

I never understood the ending of Den of Thieves, how they stole the money. Anyway... Here is the press release announcing the series and identifying the teasers and episodes. It will have some of the old cast, but apparently not an identical reboot. It looks like they were talking about 2019 or 2020, I can not find anything on why it has not been completed or released or if it was shelved or what.

https://miamivice.fandom.com/wiki/Mi...e_(2020_Series)

I hope the teasers are representative of the concept of the original series, it was amazing.

Unfortunately it’s a mash up....unless it’s Manchester Vice as the Testarossa has UK plates.

Vin Diesel was supposed to be up to something...then that fizzled and is not happening.

Pre-Covid, Don Johnson made some allusions to getting something going, but that didn’t take off either.

Miami is a much different city now, ironically thanks TO Miami Vice itself starting a BOOM that has lasted 37yrs...Miami Beach was so “dead” that they didn’t even need to stop traffic to film as there weren’t any cars on the road...everyone there were fixed income retirees who didn’t drive.

Essentially Mann made Miami look like this legendary exotic fantasyland that investors pounced on when they realized that the “real” Miami was a dump that they could gobble up very cheaply and actually turn the city into what people who watched the show thought it really was like.

But wait!!! There’s hope.

Miami Vice (New Series) Teaser 2021. Break out your pastel T-shirts and jackets – "Miami Vice" is returning to TV. It will be sans Don Johnson and Philip Michael Thomas but with Vin Diesel producing, according to Variety.Feb 8, 2021

Such a great show seeing all these stars and guest-stars when no one really knew their names.. Will definitely watch, but hope Tubbs' role doesn't kiss Sonny's butt like it did originally!

Due to the PC and WOKE cultures in the US, it would/will be diluted/softened to the point of failure.

As with Magnum, these things are doomed to failure if you're trying to capture the magic of the original. If you're younger, you don't really have a reference point and it just nostalgia.

I think they should stay in the past where they belong. What actually made Miami Vice was the glamorized emerging drug dealing culture AND Michael Mann's design style. The night shooting and the clothes and cars. Smugglers Blues was the anthem of the show.

That stuff will not hold up these days.

Thanks for sharing. One of my all time favourite shows. Crockett’s theme is my ring tone.

Love that tune.

I'm 100 percent sure this isn't real.

It doesn't look right, not edited as well as it should for a big TV show.
