selling a watch to DavidSW
I searched this forum and cant find info that I need. I see a lot of praise for David and its definitely great to see. I have personally never actually dealt with him for transactions (buy or sell).
So I am looking to sell one of my rolex pieces and wanted to hear 2 cents from others on this forum who have sold to DavidSW. How was your experience? Any issues? was it smooth? |

Why don't you just email him? Thats how easy it is. Why do you have to ask how to email someone ?

It's pretty smooth but you'll obviously make less than if you sold privately. Why not sell privately?

You can go on his website and submit it there under the "Sell your watch" tab at the top.
Speaking from a LOT of experience though, I would shop it around. Try Bobs, Watchbox, Crown and Caliber as well. It's free to get an estimate for your piece, and you lose nothing if you don't go through them. For me though, Crown and Caliber has consistently beaten the other sellers, and has gotten even better after Hodinkee purchased them. YMMV, but you'd be foolish to not have a look at all your options. David is great though, and I have never had an issue with him. Obviously though, you'll make the most $$$ selling it yourself but I never had the time or patience for that . :3 |

Thank you, that is correct. I already got in touch with David. I am just looking for some feedback before I commit to a selling transaction. I am not looking to sell privately because 1. its not a hot and popular piece and 2. I dont want to deal with BS - I know DavidSW has been reputable in terms of sales, so thats already takes a lot of stress off.

Very smooth, very easy, but the valuations he's been giving lately have been very low. Don't expect to get anywhere near what you may get selling yourself. Also check several different greys, not just David.

I was curious about this. If we receive an offer from DavidSW, can it generally considered close to fair market value, or is one required to shop around and negotiate with him to get the best price?

What are you selling ? The hotter the watch the easier it is to sell it yourself.

I’ve sold two watches to DavidSW in the last month. Neither were Rolex but the experience was phenomenal. I sent out requests to other vendors and David was by far the most prompt to respond w and offer. Several others took days or didn’t even bother to respond back. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Smooth and effortless. However, lately he offers less than others and charges more. Is it worth it, it is up to you as it is 0 risk.

I can think of at least a dozen gray market dealers on this site that are as good as David, as far as réputation....Shop around, but understand that you will sell it for much less than you would if you sold it yourself.

126300 - (DJ41), blue dial/sticks/oyster bracelet (with all original tags, warranty card, box etc). Bought in Portugal for 6k (back when discounts were still a thing). Gotten few other pieces in the past few years (subC, batgirl) - don't really wear the DJ41 anymore so yea...been getting few offers between 6500-7k so happy about that, but these are just preliminary offers - watch has been worn so we will see.

Try Patrick at OC watch guy. I sold him a peachy DJ41 fluted blue for significantly more than that a year ago. Condition being what it is I still think more than that might be possible.

Davidsw is great to buy and sell from, he usually pays top dollar. Also try hqmilton, tropical watch(Jacek), Bernard watch as well. The only one I would avoid is Bobs watches, either buying or selling(I've done both) and for both times had horrible experiences.

This. In my experience, he usually buys 30% below market grey price. I’d shop around with other greys. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
