SEIKO 7C46-7008 Golden Tuna


The 7C46-7008 was the last of the original Golden Tuna quartz saturation divers. The line ran from 1978 (with the ref 7549-700x), through the mid 1980s to mid 1990s (with the ref 7C46-7009), and from 1997 until 2005 (with the 7C46-7008), when the black Darth Tuna (ref SBBN011) was released.

With a case diameter of 49mm and 16mm thick, this is a large watch, but having no lugs it will sit comfortably on a 7-inch wrist. (The Rolex Deepsea, for comparison, is 51.8mm lug to lug, and 17.7mm thick.)


Condition

This 2001 Japan Domestic Market (JDM) 7C46-7008 Golden Tuna is in excellent condition, and received a new five-year battery change and pressure test at the Hong Kong Seiko Service Centre just last year (paperwork will be included).

The gold-coloured titanium nitride coating, which gives the watch its nickname, is fully intact on the bezel, monobloc titanium case and crown, with only very light, barely visible caseback marking. The ceramic shroud is also in great shape, with very light scratches on the insert, and all four screwheads are still sharp.

Dial and hands are in excellent condition and the lume is, of course, very strong (also on bezel triangle).

I have just added a new Seiko DAL1BP strap in the original style, custom-fitted with a black PVD buckle to match the case.

Currently running +10 secs per month. The quickset day/date function works as it should, with optional Japanese Kanji and English days.
