1983 Rolex 5500 7.2 Million Air-King Oyster Perpetual AirKing Silver Stick Tritium Di
For sale is an excellent condition 34mm stainless steel Rolex Oyster Perpetual Air King. The 5500 is a 7,250,xxx serial, circa 1983, and is not accompanied by box or papers.
The Rolex features a brushed steel case with a fixed polished steel smooth bezel. The Air King is mounted on its original 78350 brushed steel Oyster bracelet that is stamped with a “H” clasp code, which correlates with a production year of 1983. The bracelet contains four removable links, and sits loose on a 7.5 inch wrist. The bracelet has stood the test of time well, and contains virtually no stretch, would rate it 92.5% plus. The Rolex features a silver dial with applied polished white gold hour marker and polished white gold tritium coated hands. Both the dial and hands are original to the watch and have never been relumed. Furthermore, all of the tritium lume plots on the dial are fully intact. The case does appear to have been polished previously, but the lugs are still fairly thick and crisp. The bracelet contains minimal signs of previous wear, as the coronet on the clasp is still crisp, while the bracelet contains virtually no stretch. Overall the Rolex is in excellent condition with the only signs of previous wear being some faint surface level hairline scratches on the watch’s high polish accents.
