Rolex Submariner Watches Globally Near $50 Billion Market Value

For those who have Bloomberg, super interesting reading:

Hard to believe “new watch” market is anywhere near $50B. At 1M watches per year, that’s an average of $50k per watch (no way)!

However, if they include preowned (not CPO) but all markets (gray, private and CPO) and new watch markets, I could see $50M on Rolex watches changing hands annually.

It includes all subs ever made, not annual production. My guess is we are talking more than 4 million submariners produced and still in service… the $50B estimate as a value of that total stock seems reasonable.

That is a very large number, and I don’t think they all change hands every year. I don’t have Bloomberg so I could not read the article. 50 billion is a very large amount?
I’m sure that it’s up there. That is allot a scratch…

Cheers,

I can’t read the article, but I think it’s claiming that the asset value of all Submariners ever made is a total of USD$50billion, which seems perfectly reasonable.

If we assume that 4 million Subs exist, then that’s an average value of USD$12 500 each

My first reply post above explains it.

It looks like a reasonable estimate.
