1655 Explorer II Albino
Hi all!
Stopping by to share with, and input from you on this cool variation of the 1655 I was just offered. It was a daily driver for the past 36 years. It comes with original double boxes, warranty, and even sales receipt from 1984 (with a 20% discount) I don’t know the owner, but I know my town jeweler, who he sold it to. Interestingly enough, the watch was purchased in the same small town where I presently live, from the only Rolex AD this place ever had. Any thoughts, advice from this very knowledgeable group will be well received. Thank you in advance for your time and help! |

Looks like 36 years of shirt polishing that’s for sure...nice to have papers with these as not many 1655 have the original papers. What is the asking price?

At first glance, it seems to be a Mk5/Mk4, which is correct for 1984. Hopefully, I'll be corrected if wrong about that. I would subtract some value for the substantial wear and tear (bracelet will probably need a re-build), and for the lack of color on the 24h hand and the lume.
Now the subjective part. The bright white color of everything is not particularly appealing on a vintage piece to me personally, and it would actually be a deal-breaker for me on this piece.
