118209

I've been wanting a DD platinum for awhile but I came to realize that is out of my range even at pre-loved prices. I thinking of the the 118239 in white gold Roman numerals pre-loved. However I prefer a smooth bezel and a presidential bracelet. I stumbled on the the 118209. But I can't seem to find one with a white dial. Is there other model numbers I should I look at? I'm not familiar with all the model numbers that are out there. Any suggestions would be helpful!

This is the style I would I want in a white dial.

If you want a white metal DD with smooth bezel and can’t stretch to platinum then the 118209 is your only option. It was discontinued a few years ago and I think the majority of them are on oyster bracelets. It’s a very very nice watch though.

Thanks. I want a DD with white dial Roman numerals smooth bezel with a presidential bracelet in white gold. But it seems that is hard to find.

A 118209 with president bracelet is not that hard to find; focus first on that and later on the dial as that can easily be switched

Also, make sure to learn about polishing in the secondary market. I was in search of a DD Bark Finish in yellow gold. Granted, a different animal altogether but the majority seemed to have lugs like toothpicks. Obviously six digit references shouldn't be as bad since they're newer but still, it's a factor that will affect the price and more importantly: your future enjoyment of the watch. I mention this because there can be huge variations in the condition of used watches. Good luck.

This is a major factor for me when evaluating older day dates. You’re right that the newer 118239s should be in much better shape but i found it sometimes challenging (in pics) to see the correct edge geometries because of the polished surfaces and rounder lugs.
