Can someone explain like i'm 5 the meaning of 5/6 digit subs/gmts?

Basically, the 6 digit references introduced adjustable clasps, like the glide lock for the sub and easy link for the GMT, and one fewer permanent link in the bracelet, making it easier to adjust. Then there's the maxi dial, super case, and ceramic bezel.

5 digit sub means that the reference number is only 5 digits long. The sub would be 14060. It’s the previous generation of the sub. With aluminum bezel and the case is slightly different from the current generation which is the 6 digit sub, because the reference number is 114060.

The 6 digit has a different bracelet, different case, different clasp...

And it’s the same thing with the sub date, the gmt, the Daytona blah blah blah



Look up 14060 vs 114060 on google or so, so that you can see the differences

The Rolex reference code changes as models are updated. There were 4 digit references, then 5 digits, current generations are 6 digits.
