After market strap questions

How many here have gone to after market straps over the OEM ones. I am thinking about getting a black alligator and really do not want to spend $300+.

Do the after market ones use the tubes as well? And last question, when looking at the strap sites, how do I know what size as far as length is? I know my 111 is a 24mm, but I do not want one longer than the OEM it came with.

Any info will be appreciated.

Hi Mort,

Check out the link below and go to the sizing section. It should help out quite a bit. Just keep in mind that the thicker the strap you buy, the smaller it will fit in terms of length. Folks usually buy 3mm-5mm in thickness.

Mort, again a most warm welcome to the wonderful Panerai world

The easiest would be to get the black alligator/ecru stitch 24/22 and 115/75 from Panerai.Like you know, they are not inexpensive and most likely you will have to wait some time after ordering from the AD.That said the OEM gators are top-notch

There are other custom gator strapmakers too ... check their work out on CM.

If you go custom calf, remember their straps are a bit thicker so you need to go at least 80/125,although I would rather say 80/130.Rather too long !!

Oh, Simona gator is also outstanding... Very nice. IMO with Gator - it is better to not go too long. If you like the length of OEM - I agree with above - go OEM.

Ted Su gators straps are one of the best out there, I order one last week and let me tell you is super soft and looks superb, and doing business with him was great.

Here is a picture of mine,

Take a look at Heroic18 as well. Good price and excellent quality from what I've seen.

Simona, Heroic, or OEM with discount from AD are the best!

Mort: You will just love the strap options for Pannies, and trust me, you will not stop on the 2nd strap!

I wanted to get another OEM brown strap AND deployment buckle for mine- went to the AD and WOW!!! I got sticker shock.

I picked up another strap elsewhere, and now need to find a buckle, which ain't so easy. I see plenty of straps for sale everywhere, but not deployment buckles.
