How many of you had an "order" of Rolex acquisitions?
Hello everyone!
I have a question for the members of this fine forum. Just out of curiosity, once the Rolex addiction began, what was the "order of Rolex acquisition" for you? I am curious to know if the collection started in any specific order, or if it was just random acquisition of pieces on a whim. I have already started my "order" of Rolex acquisitions....it is as follows: 1) GMT Master II c (coming in the very near future God-willing) 2) The most recent "series' Submariner with date 3) SS Sub once the "new" model comes out in 2010 4) SS YM 5) SS Daytona with the white dial I figure it will take me about 4-6 years to amass those watches, if I remain consistent with my "toy" budget savings... Then, whatever happens to catch my eye!!! |

Acquisition, Smacquesition !
you go to the mall and you buy a watch then you go and drink a beer; its as simple as that, some of you get nauseas and are guilt ridden, others order the tamale plate with rice and beans, its not buying a Patek for cryin the frak out loud ~ itsa ROLEX ! AND EVERY MALL IN THE FREE WORLD HAS EM !
Funny, use the words, "toy and acquisition" like you were buyin a place on Park Ave ! Thanks, Randy now, where's my beer ! |

SD first
next will probably be a dressier model (DJ? white Milgauss?) from there on... not sure. Don't like the new TT Subs... can't afford the new WG sub... maybe an AirKing or OP? |

Got my dream watch years ago--s/s Daytona 6263. Considered selling it in order to get other watches on my list: a Benrus Sky Chief circa 1950 and a Submariner 1680 circa 1979. but decided it was worth waiting. I'll just have to make more money.

I have a few on my list, but the list is fluid. I look for something that's different from the mainstream Rolex, something that's unique, a milestone, a rare piece, etc.......
I think next collecting thrust is going to be the 1930's and 40's Canada only Rolex issues. Skyrocket, Observatory, Victory, Eaton 1/4 Century, Centregraph, Lipton, Junior Sport, Raleigh, Commander, Recorda, Edison, Grenfell, Standard, Shipmate, etc, etc. I've seen a few of these, but most were in dire straits or were poorly redone.

Hilarious thread. I'm trying to figure out my order as well, though I have it narrowed down to about 5-6 watches.

The first one I had to have was the Sub Date 16610. Absolutely first on my list. I then acquired a DateJust and sold the DJ. I will be getting a second one, just not sure which one as of yet, either the DSSD or a YG Sub.
