a PM watch, is a PM watch, and should demand a premium if its a seiko, Tudor, Tag, etc., now resale may not be the same but cost of materials is a big factor.

This post above is a "drop mic" comment and truly demonstrates an understanding of the history of horology. I own both brands and have for more than 40 years. My choices have nothing to do with price point of either one. Anyone who thinks Tudor exists as a poor man's Rolex could not consider themselves a WIS and should refrain from claiming so.

12 Grand for a Tudor?
I actually like Tudor for the watches they make. Is that a thing?

Tudor is Tudor and Rolex is Rolex. Two different brands and two different discussions.

OP has image issues. Others do not. I sold a SubC for a BB58 because I like it more. If the BB58 gold had an integrated bracelet I’d consider it.

I don’t understand debating brand status, but okay.

Arguably nicer and more modern updated watches.
The silver BB58 and Titanium Pelagius are something Rolex would likely never do. 70 hour PR More agreeable lug profile Variety of colors. a gold Rolex or a gold Tudor, same difference to me, both are dressing up a SS sports watch to allow a steep price increase.

Put a full gold bracelet and solid caseback on this model and I'm all over it. The watch doesn't make sense to me on a strap while showing off a bland movement.

Exactly what do you get when you buy a 12K Gold Rolex? Nothing!

Tudor was making solid gold watches in the 1950s and 1960s. Just FYI.

You do realize that Rolex is really a mid tier luxury watch maker right? Stop putting it on pedestal.
Just because it is a hype brand right now does not make it any more luxurious. Tudor is doing exactly what Rolex is doing. Riding the watch wave and trying to upscale the brand. |

Exactly! Unfortunately people who know nothing about watches think otherwise, and this forum is now populated with people who know nothing about watches and everything about brands.
I know someone who has a massive collection of serious pieces and a deep understanding of watch history, easily a $20-30m collection. The watch i see him wear most is a Pelagos. Quote:

People should buy what they want. I don't want to hear anything that $12k is entry level. I think it was an interesting watch, some people just prefer Tudor. If it had a blue dial I would probably save up for it. Maybe that is the how Rolex differentiates from Tudor where Rolex usually reserves blue for precious metals.

I think in 5-10 years, people will miss the days that they could get a nice Tudor for a few grand.
As for the solid gold bb58, it's not my cup of tea. Just design/looks wise, but I don't see an issue with it being available in their catalogue. I'll stick with my steel bb58! |

not sure if this comment is relevant or not, but I paid top dollar for a 9411 and I have no regrets. I wear it more than any other watch I have (and for those of you wondering what the watch collection is, it includes 5 rolexes). I never really got caught up in the "poor man's rolex" argument. That is stupid one and you cannot win when arguing against stupid.
