RIP Tim McCarver
A very good player on the Cardinals and a great baseball announcer. Sorry to hear of his untimely passing. We need more people making it past 90!

Great player for the Phillies too, but his best years were with the Cardinals. With the Phillies, he was primarily a backup catcher at that point.
One Tim McCarver moment I'll never forget back was when he hit a grand slam HR on the 4th of July against the Pittsburg Pirates. This was circa 1976... He was so excited that he passed the runner on 1st base and then was ruled out. So only 3 of the 4 runs counted... |

McCarver wasn't my favorite announcer, but he always seemed like a good guy.
Did love his story about going to the mound when Bob Gibson was pitching, where Gibson snapped at him, "What are you doing here? Just give me the ball. The only thing you know about pitching is that you can't hit it." RIP

RIP. Always enjoyed his commentary. And I remember how well he handled Deion dunking him.

Been a long time ago for me, but I always enjoyed his broadcasts.
