CPO Chicanery

I have always wondered how scam artists and thieves continue their dirty deeds and sleep well at night . I guess just as well as Rolex Ad’s and their sales associates as they push Rolex cpo watches for thousands over msrp when they have brand new watches in the back . Taking advantage of unknowing customers with a glad hand and a smile . Baby needs to eat .

I understand what you’re saying.

At the end of the day it’s just a watch, no real harm being done. Just capitalism at work.

There’s tons of brands- the hobby is bigger than just Rolex. Maybe check out some other brands?

You actually don't know what inventory any AD has in the back.

they most likely do, but it's not like they only have 2 people stopping by their stores per day. they probably have 30 people asking for the same watch every day and only 1 or 2 of them in the back, if any at all

It's a luxury good. Capitalism 101. Hermes, Porsche, Ferrari, Patek, BMW (some models), Benz... List goes on and on of who has similar practices. I hate it too but it is what it is.

My first thought also. Anyone who does not wish to partake of the CPO programme is not obliged to. It's not like anyone is pointing a gun or holding a relative hostage.

Sales associates trying to sell inventory with higher margins over lower margin items is unheard of! Unprecedented! Shocking! Who do they think they are, capitalists operating in a free market economy? The nerve! The chutzpah! The arrogance! They’d better get their act together and start selling used watches for less than new just like in the good old days or we’ll stop visiting their showrooms to get on their lists! That’ll teach ‘em!

Stop visiting your AD it’s a toxic relationship. That’s my advice.

So funny. OP needs a 101 in something, I’m just not sure where to start.

They are just watches. Walk away, no need to participate.

Rolex MSRP incels are also entertaining. If that’s your attitude with the AD, it explains everything.

I’m over this thread . If you people can’t handle one persons opinion and it leads to creepy faceless online behavior. Run to your AD tomorrow and hug ‘em where it helps .

You can choose not to buy CPO. Your example is weak, wrong and inappropriate so take your ball and go.

OP’s venom is a bit excessive, but it’s at least somewhat the reality of CPO for current models. However, if you’re buying anything out of production, for example a 1016, 5513, or 1675 - models that are often heavily bastardized - CPO is the closest thing we’ve got to Rolex certified vintage sales.

I walked into an out of town AD . Looked into a case containing CPO watches and was given the story of the CPO watches and their magical journey . I wasn’t interested or looking for anything and have enough Rolex watches . The candy coated crap-fest just made me think what a load , then I was told the asking price for middling watches . Thought I’d say something about my experience and wow the torch bearers were sharpening their swords . Hope you had a fun Sunday butting heads .
