GMT Master ii

I have just received a watch with serial number 116710, is the 116710LN a different model? More recent?

The 116710LN is the GMT IIc. The LN stands for lunette noir which means its got a black bezel which the the116710 has anyway.

Does that mean the watch without the LN designation is older? Any difference?

The 116710 and 116710LN are actually the same model, the "LN" at the end is just omitted sometimes because it describes the black bezel, to which (at the moment) no alternative anyway. The 116710LN is in production since 2007, the previous model variations produced until then in have the reference number 16710 with following letters and their meaning:

16710A black / dark red bezel (called "Coca Cola")
16710B blue / red bezel (called "Pepsi" or "Pan Am")
16710N black bezel (called "Espresso")

I have a question to GMTFan. I bought my GMT MasterII 116710LN and the serial starts with a V .I read here in some post Ithat the V letter means the watch was made in 2008.
Now, the bracelet reads LT3 wich means, as far as another post says, the bracetet was manufactured in 2009.Can you explain me if the V identity could have been used for 2 years? You know what I mean? So basically the watch was "born" in the year 2009? I bought it in august 2010. Thanks for the answer and sorry to intrude in your post PIATTY73.
