Vintage GP Seahawk, solid gold or gold plated?

I recently purchased a vintage GP Seahawk off the bay. The case back is stamped “14kt gold”, which, to me, would indicate that the case was solid gold. However, the bezel, lugs, and crown area seem to have substantial “brassing” consistent with a gold plated case.

I must admit, I’m far from an expert on gold / gold plated watches. My collection is almost entirely SS. But I am curious to figure this one out. Is this case in fact, as it appears to me to be, gold plated? If so, what’s with the case back inscription?

Not an expert, but I rarely see a gold plated watch with a gold colored caseback. If this watch was a plated or any of the other non-solid gold types, I would expect to see a stainless caseback.

If it's written 14kt gold it has to be 14kt solid gold, not plated or filled, otherwise it would be against the law and I'm sure GP wouldn't do something like that! Now those "strange looking" parts, if I may call them like this, are probably just dirty. If it was plated or filled my guess is that you'd see some steel or silver colored spots on the case and maybe some green stains as well.

I would say no to plated! The scratches do not show any discoloring. It is probably solid all the way through!
