Martin Kaye,Rolex dealer in uk.

has anybody ever had any dealing with martin kaye, or his company, The Classic Watch company?

his shop is in brighton, uk, but ive been told he has worked in the london area before. his website says hes worked all over the world dealing with luxury watches.

i visited the AD in brighton and the conversation turned to his shop which is just around the corner, the guy in the AD rolled his eyes and didnt really have much of a good word to say about his watches. i have my eye on a few in there but the reaction from the AD and a couple of other people i have spoken too have spooked me a bit.

i realise the AD wants a sale so may try to put me off buying from anyone else, just wondering if anyone has had any dealings and can give me a heads up.

In answer to your question I can only give you my personal experience. I recently purchased a Rolex Submariner, I found staff very professional and knowledgeable and their was a wide selection of watches for me to choose from. The prices of watches were also very reasonable, I definitely recommend The Classic Watch Company for pre-owned Rolex's.

Apologies for bumping an old thread but felt compelled to answer.

I have been into the Brighton store a number of times and have nothing good to say to be honest. Sales staff were very dismissive once I showed that I had even the slightest knowledge of watches and could definitely feel the hard-sell treatment.

My conclusion is if you're after standard pieces i.e. 16610, 16710, models still in production then you can't go terribly wrong, though I still wouldn't recommend them so take that how you wish. However, as soon you're after pieces that are no longer in production for example GMT 16750, Submariner 5513 etc then you're going to be made to believe that whatever they have on offer is the greatest representation of that model and no better one exists - so basically a load of rubbish!

So be wary.
