Which style font for engraving?

I am going to purchase a mont blanc pen for a mentor to show my appreciation.

I need some help determing the style font to use and how to write his name.

Font: Please vote 1-6 based upon the picture attached to this thread.

Name: would you also share your opinion on how to write the name (e.g. Dustin Jackson, D.L. Jackson, D. Jackson, D.L.J.)?

Thank you for the help.

I voted 3 and I'd choose D.Jackson for the text.

Just curious, what is the rationale behind no engraving? I always thought that an engraving would make it more personal to the recipient.

Thank you all for participating over the weekend, very helful and somewhat confusing. I am surprised to see the variety of opinions. It is between #3 and #5 with DL Jackson.

I agree with those with no engraving for personal use, but I feel that it would be more personal since it is a gift for someone.

I will post a picture once I receive the pen.

I was going to play it safe with a ball point.

There is nothing wrong with having a pen engraved...just my personal choice and opinion. I always prefer to "fly under the radar" and not have my name attached to personal items and belongings!!!

Yes, I agree for a gift it's always better to play it safe with a Ballpoint or Rollerball pen...unless you know the recipient prefers and enjoys Fountain pens(but then you need to know their preferences in Nibs).....

As for engraving, it can be very special to have it engraved to celebrate a special event in someone's life. Or in your case a person who means a lot to you and as you say your "Mentor." In any case, you friend will really enjoy receiving a beautiful gift of a top notch Writing Instrument!!!

Take care.....Leo
