The thanks go to JJ - he's the one providing the comic material!

My first Rolex was an Air-King with white dial and Roman numerals. I bought it in late 2000. I decided to buy it because it was the lowest priced model available. Big mistake. I eventually sold it and saved more money to buy a Sub.

I started with a TT DJ, 1601, then gave that to my father and got a 16613 Blue dial.

I still think the 16613 Blue is IMHO the most eye catching, for lack of a better word, prettiest Rolex out there. It was just a bit too much bling for me to wear everyday.

My first Rolex was an Explorer II white dial. I chose it because it was somewhat different and I liked the fact that it could be worn with something casual or dressy. If this is your first purchase, then I think that you should certainly consider that fact : can I wear this watch with a suit and blue jeans, or am I going to be limited? I understand that of course you can wear anything with any watch, but we're all crazy here and I know that I considered those things when I bought my first Rolex. Try a two tone Submariner; that's an awesome watch that goes great with anything. Anyways, good luck and lets us know what you wind up getting!!

I'd say something about it being almost natural, but that would open a whole new can of worms.

Anyway, back to the topic ...

My first Rolex was a 16233 from my parents as a graduation gift. While I love it, I found that I was petrified of how easily the gold links scratched, and that it didn't really go with my usual T-shirt and jeans. In the meantime, I started researching Rolex, took a very close look at the Sub, discovered the Sea Dweller and eventually got the SD which pretty much sits on my wrist 360 days a year.
