You, my friend need to start leasing. I sold Jaguars and Land Rovers and in the business we say if its british and out of warranty then its time for it to go. The german cars aren't too good either out of warranty but the Jags and Range Rovers will quickly put you in the poor house.

Yes, the s85 can be very very finicky, but mine has not been finicky. Any highly strung and bespoke v10 is finicky. Think about the running costs and the consequences of falling behind in servicing a v10 in other exotic engines: Porsche CGT, Gallardo, etc…

Mine has been my daily driver since 19,000 miles — now I’m at 115,000 miles of daily driving and track days. I think because I do track this car, that I’m overly maintained and have zero problems. I frequently came out of pocket during my warranty period for preventive maintenance, maintenance, maintenance. I took BMW’s free (no) maintenance and (ludicrous) service intervals and cut them by a third. My warranty expired at 50,000 miles — unused. I never made a claim and never saw the value to extend — because I am so far ahead in maintenance. Rod bearings and SMG are two big issues. My rod bearings got refreshed 30,000 miles ago and I don’t have an SMG that can fail.

Other cars have come and gone, but my e28 m5 (track toy) and e60 m5 are here to stay.

And the v10 is addictive!

That's great. I love it when an owner enjoys their car rather than letting them collect dust.

Also it is known that in order to keep an M engine in good shape, you need to give it a little kick once in a while!

Same here, went from a 2014 BMW to this. Not sure it matches my watches, but it's a great bang for the buck. Altitude Package is the best for the money too IMO. And none of that terrible fake Chrysler 'chrome'.

Audi S6 or RS7 will be in my driveway by 2018. Those quilted seats and that motor 😍 that'll be a better fit for my watches.

ETA: I suppose I could other cars that are at the family farm. The International horse-hauler definitely doesn't match the Rolexes :)
