Icon4 Yet another hacked member account....2th Dr

Guys,
Once again another falls victim to phishing email/pm taking you to log in. Looks like scammer is using email torontotime@juno.com. Beware and please if you do a WTB understand you are opening yourself up to every scammer out there. I have said it many time and will say it again WTB's are not the smartest approach IMHO. It is a ticket to get scammed and how many end up getting ripped off in first place. So if you do one just know that going into it. Also if you get a pm and it takes you to new log in that looks like TRF please don't put your password in!

with all the phishing scams going on currently in the WTB section has the moderator team thought about closing that part of the forums down?

I personally have posted in that section before and had very little success but did get emails months after my post asking me if i wanted to buy this guys watch etc etc, it was obvious he was trying to scam so I just never responded.

Not sure if this idea has come up before and if it has I apologize. Just seems like it might be a way to protect everyone a little more while getting rid of one of the avenues for scammers in the first place.

I agree, the WTB section is just a scammers paradise and really isn't necessary.

Also let me clarify this user didn't do a WTB but this scammer torontotime@juno.com send sellers PM's and my guess is that is how this happened. He also responds to WTB ads and pm'd members here as well. The fact is WTB ads opens you up to world of scammers and is a complete waste of time as most legitimate sellers don't bother looking there.

I have heard from Mark aka 2th Dr and he says he wasn't phished and did not respond to a pm that took him to new log in. I am not sure how this guy got his password then but not for me to say. My only concern is warning you all so we don't see someone burnt here.

Presumably then, Ken, he can't get his account un-banned till we figure out how it was hacked.

Adam I agree and also respectfully disagree with Mark and am sure it was phished as that is the only way this guy hacks accounts. It would be pretty close to impossible for someone to randomly be able to guess a password unless one made it so easy it took a few tries.

Agreed. Can't think of any other way.

WTB is Caveat Emptor

First eBay watch was a fake

Tried to use TRF WTB and could google the serial number and see the same pics from actual sale here Trolled the guy and actually got his wire account numbers.

Second eBay watch (TT sub) passed the WatchOut section and was verified at my local AD.

Words of forum Wisdom: buy the seller. If the guy has few TRF posts or low eBay feedback it seems like it would be obvious to be wary. The pics I was sent looked solid to me since they were from a real watch, but the seller seemed off.
