DaytonaC chronograph companion?

I had opportunity to try on the new Heuer Autavia released at Basel 2017. The goal was to have it be a chronograph companion to my DaytonaC. Although it is a very nicely designed watched, it was just too BIG!

That's a handsome watch and IMHO, it doesn't look too big for your wrist.

They ruined that watch with the bezel, case, dial ratio. They should have just copied the original.

Brucie , You are both mischevious and sneaky ! You know damn well what the guys on the OF will say....( Ok ! maybe Riviera Paradise will give his seal of approval )
Personally I think you should try and source a pre owned or ( ? Pre order ) reverse panda dial Speedy Tuesday LE. I heard some OF readers may cancel their bookings to source funds for the 1957 Triology....

Not a fan of vintage themed watches, you can consider Zenith El Primero as a companion for your Daytona

I like it and am waiting on one to show up at my AD. I like the rice bracelet and the leather. Once I get to try it on and if it works it will be mine.

it would have been perfect if they did that or at most increase the size to 40mm

I tried it on the other day and came to the same conclusions. I have always had a soft spot for Heuer as it was my first nice watch at 18 and I like the racing history and chronos in general. I wanted to love it.
They just made it a little too big and bulky for my taste. It could have been so elegant.
It has 3 issues that annoyed me.
1. It is too thick. You might think 1-1.5 mm of thickness don't make a big difference, but it does. To me anyway. It's not well tapered and sits up like a big shiny puck. It could have been a nicer more elegant throwback, reminiscent of a more elegant time.
2. I think it's overpriced. Yes it has the inhouse movement, etc. but ~20% too much.
3. The minute subdial has 2.5 minute markers. WTF is that? You can tell the minutes by looking at the position of the minute hand compared to the markers in the subdial as it jumps around, but in a race inspired chronograph I think that's just stupid. And it's not true to some wacky old 70's design either. Design be committee oversight and lack of understanding of the niche clientele that will be attracted to that watch.
I might have lived with 1 and 2, but I can't come to terms with the 3rd.
Maybe gently used at ~40% off will get my attention again.
I'm thinking about getting a real oddball for my F1 tour adventure.

I loved the new Autavia from the moment I saw the first pics...
However, I totally agree that it is simply too big, and without any reason that make sense!
Lug-to-lug size is, unfortunately, a deal-breaker for some of us and Heuer should think better when they blow out their proven design..
Again, wonderful watch that I would certainly buy for myself, IF it's only slghtly smaller...a pity, if you ask me...
