The Met Speedy LE (100 pieces)

Being such a small release, does that tip the scales for anyone?

https://www.hodinkee.com/articles/om...on-introducing

Distinguishing features:

Nato strap with "The Met"
Caseback with "The Met"
Box with "The Met"

Only at the Met starting tomorrow 3 July and 5th Ave store.

Annoyed by the barrage of “limited editions” recently from omega but a release of 100 is truly limited and I imagine these will sell out rapidly.

Slapping on a striped NATO and inscription on caseback is pretty lame. Could be limited to 10 pieces and it would still be unimpressive.

According to the Omega website, the FOIS retails at $5300 with just the leather strap. The Met edition includes a nato strap ($160 normally) and the added customization and is $5200.

So, if you were wanting a traditional FOIS, you can get one for -$100 and get a free Nato strap.

Note. Omega's website does not indicate that this is an LE of 100 pieces. It is reported at Hodinkee.

Omega really can't help itself with the endless regurgitations of what is a really great watch.

I'd think the regular version sells well, why keep adding variations with minimal differences?

If they want an excuse to talk about the watch I get it, but there might be other ways to do it, they seem to have a big budget to be in every moon related event, wouldn't that be enough?

This would be true if not for the fact that the street price of the regular FOIS is much less than retail at ADs. The “Met” edition is only available at the museum wo discount.

Everyone whines about the LE omega watches.

But they all sell out.

Seems omega is doing just fine.

I like the watch and if I had a connection to the MET I would give it a look. I know that there are a lot of Speed Masters out there but I think that is part of the appeal.

I’m sure it will sell out quickly in spite of all the comments about the FOIS.

Seems lazy to me. But as pointed out it is approx the same msrp as the regular FOIS, so if you are an omega fan who happens to be a MET fan then why not .

I also think Hodinkee reported it wrong that this is a LE... it looks to be a numbered edition like the regular FOIS.

Exactly... it’s not limited . In big letters on the back it says “Numbered Edition” next to No. 2019

Enough with the nato straps. They are a nice option for a summers day, but at least include a bracelet. If you are going retro, the Apollo 11 bracelet is a good option.

Going to the moon was the second best thing that ever happened for Omega.

Lol! Exactly. I like that omega takes risks and has fun with their watches, unlike some brands we know.
