Saving For First "Real Watch"

I am very new to all this and i would really appreciate it if you guys could help me out.
With a budget of around 2500 US, what options do i have?
As this is going to be my first purchase it is going to be very special for me and i will probably keep it for thhe rest of my life. It has to be something prestegious and from a good brand.
I like Tag Heuer Monaco Automatic and Omega Seamaster Quartz. Also, im in love with the Panerai Luminor Base Logo but its well out of my budget sadly.
what other optiions do i have?
:)

I recently sold my A serial rolex datejust with oyster band and SS bracelet with box and papers for exactly 2500.

Have a look at the Omega Speedmaster professional.
There’s not really much better then it within the same price bracket.

I’ve always had a soft spot for the Nomos Club as well, especially considering it has an in house movement!

I say keep saving for a bit longer and get the Pam 000 it's a gorgeous piece and if you want it you should get it. Definitely worth the wait IMO

Not a fan of Tag at all, not many fans of Tag here to be honest.

Did you say Quartz??? Nooooooooooo

There have been a few good suggestions already and I am sure there are plenty more to come as well....

Id really suggest saving a bit more for the Panerai you like or an automatic by Rolex, Omega or Breitling.

A Rolex DJ was my first real watch purchase (pre loved) and I still own it!

@ Demosthene: I'm a fan of the speedmaster myself. Will definitely consider that.
@ Expensivetaste and Watchtimes: You are right maybe I should get the PAM even if it means waiting for a bit longer. I think its simple and elegant and the more I look at it, the more I love it.
@ htc8p: I would consider a pre-owned submariner but I have no idea how much they go for?
@ Drockadam: Automatic(non-chrono) with blue Dial and Strap.

Thanks a million for your input guys.

For $2,500 you can get a pretty nice mechanical watch - I'd avoid quartz if you want your first "real" watch.

Def go pre-owned (especially w/ your budget) as you can get such better value. Pre-owned doesn't mean banged around though, you can prob get a complete sex (box/papers) Omega, Breitling, Tag, for around $2,500. Rolexes hold their value far better than the aforementioned and will probably run you into the $4ks for a Sub. You might be able to get a GMT in the $3ks.

No idea on the Air King, sorry. I don't have any interest in those. Perhaps others can chime in.

Panerai Luminor Base Logo ... loving this watch. There is a uniqueness to Panerai like no other. If you can wait, it's worth it. Good luck to you!

Have a look at JS Watch, very nice classic designs, and my personal favourite.
Frederique Constant has nice watches too, that are in your price range. I recently purchased one.
There are also Mont Blanc and Tudor which you should be able to get a nice new piece.

Some very nice Air Kings in your price range (used). Lots of dial options. Keep in mind they are only 34mm. Some might think them small by today's standard, but unless you have a big wrist they could work.

Agreed, for a bit more than $3000 you can snag a new Omega Speedmaster Pro. You can get a new Omega Seamaster for less. I've had 3 Omegas (although I currently only have one) and they are very fine watches. I wear my Speedy more often than my Rolex. Mine is a manual wind - if you get a Speedy you want one with the manual wind 1861 (or 1863) movement.

If you can spend some time learning about pre-owned watches, you'll never do better than a good used Rolex. Datejusts are everywhere for your price range. I also bought a Rolex Sub no-date for not much more than $2,500. Used Omega auto's could be in your range, also.

It takes a little research to learn enough to get what you will be happy with, but a nice Rolex could last you 50 years. Make sure you understand service costs and when a used watch will need service.

Don't be afraid to go pre owned, the way I see it its a better buy than a pre owned car since you can take apart a watch and service all parts.
