See this videos

I would say it takes something like 1 - 2 hours in total time the way it`s done at a Rolex Service Center with one or two technicians and one watchmaker.

I can do a full service on a movement (ETA) in about 3hrs from start to end. Not something I do every day though. Haven't tried a Rolex movement yet. So I imagine a RSC tech could do it in half that time.

I've heard it takes a year to make one, so that's pretty quick for a service.

On the contrary, there's a very high startup cost for the equipment and consumables. That's not even factoring in time and money spent on training. Doing this as a hobby has really helped me appreciate what goes into a service such that I don't complain about service anymore.

That must be a Marketing joke
They say it maybe to make it more exclusiv ;-)
Type in Seiko in eBay search, you will find almost the same amount for Rolex.
I bet the most people think, that there will be twenty times more mass produced Seikos on eBay.
That's not true.
Sometimes there are the same amount of Seikos and Rolexes on eBay.

I've read in a Swiss newspaper, that they have about 6000 employes, total.
Not everybody of the 6000 people are watchmakers who are producing new watches.

And they are producing about 700.000 watches a year.
