Tudor is Rolex's 'sister' company....Panerai is married to Tudor....so that would make Panny brother-in-law to Rolex!!

JJ, were drinking at work again?

There is a connection between the two companies, a long time ago in a galaxy far away. When the Italian Navy wanted the best, they went to Rolex for movements.

Tudor is not sold in the US any longer, so on this side of the Pond they are harder to come by. I have had a couple, chrono and sub made by Tudor and both were great watches.

Panerai is an aquired taste, not everyone likes all the same foods, nor should we all like the same watches.

Tudor is the shunned sibling

I totally agree about so little being said about Tudor.
I mean if you post anything about Tudor, you would be lucky to get any kind of response.
The vintage Tudor Chronographs are one awesome watch in terms of both its features and value for money.
This is a Chronograph with Rolex Crown, Rolex Case, Rolex hands, Rolex accuracy and Rolex toughness and it just rocks
However, most Rolex enthusiasts will not give it a second look, why, who knows, but I guess its a learning curve and some people are still making their way along.

I used to own teh same Chrono, but in a white dial. I don't regret moving any of my watches, but that is really the only one that I ever miss.

I would buy one of the old Tudor Subs if I could find one in good shape at a decent price. Problem is, that's almost impossible! The pre-Tiger chronos were really good watches too from what I've read. They're hard to find too.

Ninety-nine percent of all mechanical watches have ETA or Valjoux movements. . I guess thats why Rolex owners look down on it they don't, most know Tudor is a part of the Rolex family , but any watch that costs as much for a Tudor is still expensive to me. I never looked down on Tudor or Tudor people. A Tudor is a fine swiss watch Not to nitpick here, but you're contradicting your statement above where you say because it has an ETA movement, it has no real value... which is it?. The date is not as large as a Rolex and father away which sucks. i guess it has the mass produced kinda feel Rolex watches are mass produced, and on average crank out approximately 4,000 a day. If you want to see a non-mass produced watch, look at a Panerai...but we can feel that way with our Rolex (mass produced).
Just my two cents in orange, Mike, but your posts are sounding rather troll-like. Maybe it's a language barrier issue, maybe it's lack of knowledge. But I find your posts odd.

mikerlx, I stated this in the Rolex Fund thread and I'm stating it here now so you don't miss it. Whether you're joking or serious is irrelevant. Either way it's worn thin and as you can see from other members' posts, it's getting irritating, so please cut it out now.

We expect members here to conduct themselves in a responsible and mature way, and that includes regulating your own posts. However, if you do persist, I will edit and delete posts accordingly. I don't expect to have to repeat myself.

No offense to anybody, but I'm glad that guy is gone. First of all a complete stranger is asking for money that you don't even know where it is going to, and second even I don't ask for donations to a Rolex fund. Besides, he was dissing Panerai. That just can't happen.

You got that right, Tyler. Anyway, he's gone now, so we can go back to more worthwhile things.
