The 6002G? Who cares? How about a 5711... in PLATINUM?

Yes, we've heard whispers that it exists. Some even thought they saw photographs of it. But I haven't seen anyone see it in the wild, nor have I seen photos that convinced me that yes, the 5711P did exist.

Then, along comes Xavier from PuristSPro ("foversta"), posting these two pictures from a Patek event in Paris.

It's like walking around in the forest and seeing a unicorn. Jeez.

foversta's original thread is here...

http://patek.watchprosite.com/show-f...ti-872273/s-0/

For reference.

Just a ton of other great pics in the wild there, including a bunch of guys wearing 5131s (what?!) and one guy wearing a vintage 1463 (woot?!).

But the biggest surprise for me was the very clear pics of the 5711P. Wow.

It's like seeing a unicorn. With Kate Upton's body. And face.

Possible theories from where it came

1. A one-off for charity, much like the 5712 in titanium that Patek produced in 2007 and the 5004 in titanium that they made this year, for the Only Watch / Antiquorum event/auction.

The 5712T cleared for Euro 525,000 in 2007, FYI.

2. A prototype for a future model - which landed in the hands of a friend of the Stern family and/or a favored collector.

3. It came from Krypton, the last surviving timepiece from a planet that exploded. There are, however, Kryptonians who would beat your a** like THIS if you attempted to obtain one:

Yes, but...

... this was an earlier model from 1981. This one looks like the modern 5711 reference but in platinum.

But your point is taken: IF the 5711P did go up for sale it will most likely fetch a whole lot.

My ultimate grail - I LOVE platinum, rarity, and the Nautilus design. I'd happily trade ALL my watches and die happy with just that one watch.

I wish patek wold recreate this. I would love a platinum nautilus in the simple 5711 design. I could only imagine the weight and comfort of platinum with the amazing comfort of the bracelet.

A friend from the Middle East with good Patek Philippe connections also showed me a picture of a 5711P so I do believe it exists!

Could there be more than one maybe?
