Real Daytona?
Looking for an opinion on this Daytona. Also wondering if anyone has experience with Alex Pig watches out of Hong Kong. Has been responsive and has a lot of online presence with no negative reviews that I can find. I asked for a photo of the serial and model numbers and they did not want to provide because removing the bracelet might scratch the watch. That raised red flags to me. Advice/Opinions? Thank you!

It's real, but you're clearly treading in bad waters if you think shipping
That watch to the US is a good idea. I'd suggest abandoning the concept Of saving a couple of dollars amelessly searching the world for a Rolex. Look for a trust worthy local seller to start with, or better yet one of trf's Band of brothers. |

Thanks for the reply! Saw this watch listed on Chrono24 and inquired about it. I'm new at this, so not sure what questions to ask or what problems may lurk from buying overseas and shipping to US? Any guidance would be great. Thanks again.

You are lucky to live in the US where a large majority of the watches sold on here are located and many many reputable dealers which you can reference. Buying and shipping a watch is something that should only be done as a last resort or if you know what you are doing.

In a nutshell, shipping Rolexes into the U.S. is illegal (trademark law).

I thought all Daytonas had offset subdials at 3 and 9. These are centered.

It is definitely a little nerve racking making a first time purchase on a forum. Make sure you get good ref's beforehand. You are doing the right thing by asking around. These forums are built on verifiable trust. I've been on them for a few years and have both bought and sold everything from Luminox to Rolex. While I'm a no where near a pro I have been able to build a small cadre of familiar names and I think know who trustworthy players are. It does take some time to figure that out. That said, I am reluctant to buy from anyone overseas for a couple reasons: Customs (tarifs and import laws) is one reason, and the second, your recourse is just that much more difficult in international land. As was said in one of the other replies buy local when at all possible. Anyone who has solid refs and is willing to do a FtF is probably upright in their affairs. Hope that helps and good luck. BTW: prices on Chrono24 tend to run high, IMO.

Thanks, toddster. Price quoted is $9k. I thought that seemed low for the apparent condition of the watch. I'm assuming it has been polished or something as there are very few scratches or marks on it that I can see.

Are you planning on purchasing it in person and hand carrying it back into the States? Otherwise.....

Update: They told me they knew the serial numbers but would not remove the bracelet to take a picture. I asked them just to send me what the serial numbers were, and for a reference - the communications suddenly went cold. I'm looking for this watch in the US now, per everyone's recommendations. If you know someone selling a 18k/SS Daytona with a white face in excellent condition...I'm looking!

If you want as sharp a price as possible maybe Bob's watches (they seem legit from the other side of the planet) or go for a TRF seller.
