Opinions about this rolex

Hello Collective Wisdom:
I joined the forum to ask for help. I own a couple fine Swiss watches (A Omega Seamaster and a Baume Et Mercier Capleland), but have not been able to afford a Rolex yet. I have been approached by an acquaintance to buy his late mother's Ladies 18K Datejust, but I am skeptical of its authenticity. I live in a rural area and cannot take it to a watchsmith right away, so I'd have to buy it before getting it appraised. If anyone has the time (horrible pun), can they please look over the attached pictures and see if anything odd about the watch stands out. I have my doubts, but I am no expert.
Thank you
AE

Do you honestly think that may be real?

Do not buy that!

Thanks. Like I said, I have no experience with Rolex. Can you tell me what you spotted right away so that I can point it out to my acquaintance? He even pointed out the etched Rolex emblem on the "Sapphire" crystal. Pretty convincing sales pitch.

The best thing is to pass and simply say you're saving up for a new one. There are too many things wrong - besides it would only cause your acquaintance to be disappointed.

Yeah that's a no go for me. A bunch of things pop out right away as being off.

Plus perhaps I'm the only one but knowing the origin and reason for sale would spook me a bit anyway....

Gold hallmarks are not on back of case. Band should be gold but is marked steelinox.
Rolex font on band is all wrong. And swirl design around Rolex on band looks off.

If you can easily spot the etched crown... Then it is likely a fake crystal... And from there things only get worst.

Looks like the ones on ebay.

I would, in general, avoid buying luxury items from friends unless you are very experienced. There are so many fakes out there, and in the future it could harm your friendship when you find out it's fake, even if he did not know..

Yes, of course it is a fake. I don't think it is a "new" fake. My response was to the previous poster stating:
