Rest in Peace, Mr. Berra.
As a kid of about 8 or 9 I was standing at an area in Wrigley Field where the opposing team past through a stairway that led to their locker room . I had my program and pen in hand hoping for an autograph of some player when the Cubs were playing the Mets. One older guy stopped and said" gimme your program kid". He signed it and walked away. My day camp counselor with whom I had gone to the game with said, "do you know who's autographaph you just got? That was Yogi Berra!". He was managing the Mets at that time and I had no idea who he was until later. Somewhere along the way, years later, I lost that program. To this day I blame my mother for throwing it out with all my baseball cards! |

I hope there really is a field of dreams where Yogi can once again play the game he loved so much.
We've lost some great ambassadors over the past few years. Musial, Banks and now Berra. |
