Adding to the drama: 116619LB @ Costco Mtn View, CA

I figured I'd add fuel to the fire since soo many ppl "love" Costco for their watches

After battling the insane, rude shoppers, finally made it into the store. (You'd think ppl were preparing for the apocalypse and not for Thanksgiving LOL)

Found this in one of the cases. 116619Lb for ~$27.6K

They also had Cartier tank, gold/silver and Big Pilot IWC.

two thoughts: 1) nothing personal but does this need to be its own thread? 2) FX I think opens up grey market opportunities.

That's insane! Is this watch covered under warranty if bought at Costco?
I don't love the idea being able to buy Rolex watches in Costco.

DavidSW seems very well regarded on the forum and he has a new Smurf on his site for a couple of hundred $ more. is this a good price assuming the Costco watch is unworn as well?

not sure about the rolex warranty but in writing it is guaranteed under costco lifetime satisfaction, so in essence you could return the watch at any point for the full purchase price and tax after a possible waiting period (their language for returns of expensive jewelry e.g. large diamonds).

this is my 1000th trf post... thanks mods for not banning me (yet, I think Adam and mailman have their finger on the button for each of my posts -- jk) and unanticipatedly lively discussions about the beautiful watches.

You'll pay local sales tax by buying at Costco... not that you aren't suppose to pay the IRS back for out-of-state purchases lol.... Really no big deal about costco though. There was a legal debacle between Rolex and Costco years ago and I believe the case was dismissed. Costco is a great employer and solid company, and I feel that they're doing us a service by being able to offer select Rolex pieces at these prices.

I don't see the big deal in creating a new thread regarding this topic...How many "Is it safe....." topics have we seen among others.

Personally I don't' have an issue where ppl buy their watches as long as they are happy. And I have no issues with the TRF sellers and yes they are awesome but some folks like to see/try the item itself that they may buy....So I get that.

I posted this in case someone local was interested.

^ My mistake but it was Omega VS Costco in the supreme court. Check out the details here:

The Costco thing is no big deal. It's just another gray market option. Their warranty, not Rolex. I'd just assume go trusted seller with the Rolex warranty.

you would take 5 years repair or replace (rolex' option) versus lifetime satisfaction cash back ?

Anybody in the D.C. metro area see a Rolex for sale yet in any Costco?
I am a member and shop at Costco in Manassas, VA and make it a point to look for a Rolex in the watch case, but to no avail.
Surprised to see the Smurf, and not a bad price either.

Quickest way to bury a thread is to not respond to it.

Otherwise, I've never seen a Rolex at Costco thread that interest me so much! What a beautiful piece. So as far as the Costco "Guaranteed satisfaction" policy, wasn't that said to no longer be? Would be interested to hear for sure.

Well, I'd prefer Rolex to do warranty service over Costo. BUT...is it really true that you could buy a $30k watch, wear it for several years, then return it to Costo and get a 100 percent refund? That seems both crazy and totally amazing.

I would have to think that Costco MAY have amended that policy especially when it comes to jewelry and electronics. But, you never know. I have never needed to return anything there for any reason.

So your telling me that Costco has a "bring it back whenever you want for a full refund"? What's to keep every person that buys one from them returning scratched, out of date, not to mention every time a person wants to upgrade he can just return it, and trade up!? I don't think Costco will want to sell Rolex for very long if that's how people are thinking of "playing" the return policy. Personally, I'll stick to buying toilet paper at Costco.

I don't like it. It hurts the brand being there discounted next to flat screen Vizios and bulk dog food.

I don't think the lifetime guarantee applies to luxury watches any more, I believe it is 2/3 months now.

Who cares where you buy your watch. If it's legal and real. It's all the same. (Minus any -warranty differences) also, it's kind of a nice break in the monotony of bulk paper towels and kidney beans.

Exactly! I've bought numerous watches from trusted sellers here on TRF, and I know that if there ever was a problem, which there NEVER has been, I'd rather call my trusted seller than the Manager of the jewelry dept. at Costco. Imagine trying to explain that 30k return to the manager that just got transferred to the jewelry dept. from the bakery dept! Good luck, your going to need it! Just my .02c

There's nothing else anywhere I could find on the website specific to watches. Only diamonds. Regardless, I would have no problems buying from Costco if the deal presented itself.

Nonsense! Costco is a gray market seller just like the hundreds of gray market sellers right here in this forum and all over the Internet. If Costco became an AD, I would understand your feelings but that is not what this is.

Well, since that Smurf is in a California Costco, be sure to add state sales tax to it, which may be between 8 and 9%. That is a significant chunk of change, as with a TRF seller the deal is tax free.

Interesting because I would rather buy from Costco any day than a trusted seller. Don't get me wrong as the TS are great but if there was a problem with my transaction or the watch, I would feel much more comfortable dealing with a more substantial company.
