Crazy price - Pepsi GMT

Hi all

As well as the horrendous price of the GMT LN I spotted, here is about the most expensive Pepsi GMT I've ever seen preowned. (Same place as the £6550 black GMT)

Does this hold the record?

That is high. I think there was one on here in the FS section for $14k that was claimed to be un-worn. That looks a touch over polished to me on the bottom left hand lug.

As a retailer you can only hope someone with more money than sense stumbles on by after a pint or two

That's the most I've seen a 16700 selling for. Seen a few 16710s with 3186 movements selling for a lot more than that.

I'm sure someone will pay that. The prices on 16710s, especially with the 3186 are nuts.

People have been saying that forever. It's bound to be wrong at some point.

16710 Pepsi Z serials with 3185 movements are asking $7500-$8500 with all papers. Good old fashioned supply and demand. Recently, I walked into my AD wearing my Z serial Pepsi and was offered a trade for a new GMT II C SS by a sales guy. but this is one piece I will not flip. Unless of course somebody has a ceramic Daytona to swap

Wow makes me feel lucky. I found my 16710 on Canadian craigslist (Kijiji). Full kit Z serial with box and papers (3185 movement), purchased in November 2015. I had it serviced by Rolex Canada in March 2016, so the watch is fully authentic, and recorded in my name.

The best part is I got it for 6200 Canadian, which is equivalent to 4700 USD.

Market will crash if Rolex makes a ceramic BLRO in ss.

I've seen good pricing on Bobwatches website, never used the site though.

And people complain about the price of the ceramic Daytona.

Have to agree and IMHO anyone paying these crazy prices for a simple mod from a 3185 into a 3186 must be a sandwich short of a picnic.Much like the so called error or stick dial GMT thanks to the internet that was hyped to be a true way of telling a 3186 iinside many bought into this hype and got there fingers burned. As all it was just a simple font change much like the hundreds of others over the past Rolex decades. And these so called error or stick dial can have a 3185 or 3186 and the only real true way to tell is get the back off.

Yep, me too. Watchfinder had one and when I called to enquire, they told me that they had already knocked back an offer of £10,000.

I'd never spend more than 6,000 USD on a 16710. The 116710, to me, is a much better watch and for just a bit more I can get a brand new one of those. The 16710 is simply not that rare a thing to me.
