116710blnr vs 16710

Say you had a choice between a lnib blnr and a 2005 F serial 16710 with full set, recent RSC service. What would be your choice and why? This can be your only gmt.

For me it would be the 16710 with or without the so called full set or service, the 16710 is a far more versatile watch. With the bezel inserts quite cheap to buy and easy DIY changeable get all 3 the 3 different watches for the price of one.Movement wise not a lot of difference between the 3185 and 3186, on the 3186 slightly more precise second time zone setting and thats about it.

16710 every time. Its a true classic and a traditional Rolex GMT. Sorry, but I have never liked the new maxi cased GMT's and I don't like the blue and black "Batman" bezel. The 16710 might be old school and feel tinny compared to a new GMT, but I would chose it every time.

16710. It's the best watch in the world.

I have both but IF pressed to choose between the 2 I am keeping the 16710. It is just so versatile with all 3 inserts. To me, it is the quintessential Rolex sport watch.

16710. Durable, comfortable, easy enough to change the look with Pepsi/Coke/Black bezels. Better proportioned, and no polished center links either. I also don't find any added value to a ceramic bezel. JMHO.

its not even close 16710, for a hundred bucks more or so you can have two watches (coke and pepsi).

I guess the BLNR votes are what you call the "silent majority".

I have the BLNR, but voted for the 16710 because as many have said you can have both the coke and pepsi for a few hundred dollars.

16710, no question. No polished center links is a big factor for me, and the ability to change bezel inserts is nice as well.

I can't speak to the comfort of the BLNR, but I wore a friends GMT 16710 for a couple of days and it was one of the most comfrotable watches I've ever had on-right in line with the 5 digit Exp II 16570.

16710 gets my vote between the too. Although the BLNR is attractive, so is the 16710 and it's a classic.

I would choose this:

I love the looks of the 16710. And the versatility of that watch...man, you can't beat it. But, the fit and feel of the BLNR is far more to my liking. So, I'm really not much help, Josh. Sorry.

But, I have been toying with getting a nice 16710 and putting it on a GMT 2c bracelet...kind of the best of two worlds. It's an idea I'm toying with for the future when I feel like the rest of the collection is solid and I have some room to play around with it.

Interesting how all the replies skew towards the 16710 heavily, yet poll results have the BLNR as the winner.

I have the 16710 and will never sell it. Just the most versatile and comfortable watch that I own. However, after trying on my friend's BLNR, it has made me want a 6-digit reference due to the size, just not necessarily that specific model.

BLNR for me. Love the ceramic bezel and the solid link bracelet. Don't want a watch without easylink extension.

Not surprised at all. The majority buy new watches because some of them do not dare to buy second hand. And even fewer people buy "old and outdated" second hand...

Besides an new watch is available everywhere - whilst a model out of production is de facto not.

I'm not sure I can think of a 6 digit Rolex I prefer over its 5 digit ancestor, outside of the new ceramic Daytona.
