Good deal on ck2998?

I found a brand new ck2998 in Japan and with the tax free, additional 5% off and exchange rate it will come to $5413. Of course I would still have the tax when returning to the US. I held off on buying but they had two in stock so I'm sure it will be there in a few days if I decide I really want it.

Yeah, grab that puppy! The import tax when you come back to the States isn't too steep anyway.

I feel really torn on whether to get it or not. I almost pulled the trigger on this watch when it was released, I was even "approved " by my omega boutique to purchase. I ended holding off and picked up a watchco seamaster 300 in September.

I think if I buy the CK I would need to flip the sm300 at a loss.

First world problems.

Also you would pay less than $100 bringing it back in to the US and declaring at customs, when I purchased from Omega boutique in Italy and brought home a watch of similar value I believe I was charged something like $83 in custom duty so on a watch under $10k declaring really isn't a big deal.

You don't really want the watch.........that's pretty obvious. Why ask if its a good deal then???

I like the watch but don't want to lose cash down the road if I decided to sell it. If I can buy at a good price that guaranteed I wouldn't lose money if I sold it then why not buy it and see if it's a keeper?

Weird...why would you buy a watch you don't want to keep going in? I don't care how good a deal a watch is if I'm not wearing it and keeping it.

Its common. I see it all day long... people want to buy new watches at used prices because they are unsure if they will keep it long term.

Should just buy what you like and think will keep.....but I see it is difficult these days with so many choices. I've only sold one watch because I knew immediately it was a mistake and didn't feel right (PO 8500). Everything else I dun plan on them going anywhere. Dangerous game to buy stuff you might not keep IMO....always take a bath one way or another in watches usually.

I got my CK2998 for a little less than what the OP was offered, and I still expect to lose money if I ever sell it (I don't have plans to). It seems that it's not hard to get a CK for under $5500 here in Asia.

I agree that it's common. If I did get it I wasn't planning to sell, but there are a lot of nice watches that I like out there and if my tastes change it would be nice to be able to flip without losing too much.

These seem to keep popping up in stores despite the limited edition tag.

Good deal. Lowest I've seen w/ AD warranty was $5200 USD.
