2 Annual Calendars - An Overkill?

Dear All,

I guess this is another first world problem. I recently got a 5396G (breguet numerals). My AD also showed me a 5205 RG with a white / cream dial during the process and I fell in love with it. I don't have a RG piece, while I am not sure whether I want to have 2 annual calendars.

I know it is all very subjective at the very end but what do you think? (I might probably buy it anyways as long as I don't face a crazy resistance from my wife :thumbsup )

For me, yes. Why not look at chronographs, perp calendars, worldtimers or some other complication.

Go for it. Totally different dial layout on those two.

If you like it go for it.

I once thought of vertically collecting Patek ACs. 5205R, 5146J and 5396G will make a great Trio

Both beautiful pieces but I would put my money into a different model and complication

I don't see a problem with having several ACs if you like them. Some people collect chronos and have several in their collection. It really depends on what you like and appreciate. I think for many people Patek ACs hit the "sweet spot" in having a useful complication at a reasonable price.

The question for you is - what other watch would you consider in the price range of the 5205R? Would you enjoy the alternative watch as much?

Many thanks Thomas, but I really like the dial layout and would pply use the piece without properly setting the date as I will get lazy after a few weeks :)

That's what winders are made for; wearing an AC (or any watch for that matter) with the wrong date would bother me.

To your original question, I personally wouldn't want 2 of the same complication, but if it appeals to you then no good reason not to.

Rose gold black dial and 5146 is white gold.... I also have a 5167 and 5711 and FPJ all 3 handlers....is more than 1 too many? Just buy what you like and don't over analyse....if it brings a smile then it should be on the wrist

I really don't see the problem, I have 3 3 handers and am getting soon two more, the only watch I will have with complications will be a Daytona and the 5712, I wanted to start getting different complications but then I understood when I got the 5726 that I didn't really need them, so I am going the "cheap" route, good looking but simple watches, will not have huge service bills for complications which I don't really use or need, but I can understand the appeal and don't see the problem if you have 2 AC's or more

I only have one PP annual calendar. A second one that is different from the first would definitely not stop me. I like only having to set the date once a year.
