News out of AP at SIHH

What do you guys think about the news that came out of AP at SIHH about discontinuing the Jules Audemars line and creating an entire new line to replace next year? Any guesses on what category it would be in or any insight to what you think it may be? If this news is old, I apologize , it was new to me and I am excited to see what the future holds.

I see this news has been in the making for a long time. I should have searched first.

its smart. AP is a sports watch company no matter if thats what they want to be or not. It just is. I have never seen a JA once in an AD ever, the geneva boutique is the only real life sighting i have ever had.

In any case, ALS or Patek would get my money if i ever wanted a dress watch and im guessing most watch buyers think the same.

Or VC. Or JLC.

AP is definitely not a strong player in the dress watch game.

yes those too. if this was a basketball team the JA is risking not even being a starter and coming off the bench.

I think there is lack of marketing and bad branding for the Jules Audemars line.

They should almost make that new line exclusively high complications in a traditional design. And eventually add a couple dress pieces that are simple and classic to their heritage. Similar to Patek Calatrava, VC Patrimony, Lange Saxonia, etc.

The Jules Audemars just looks like an after thought in all aspects, design and brand marketing.

Agree...except for the blue JA minute repeater they came out with last year. That thing is unbelievable

A sports line with a traditional round dial might be on the cards, all the unorthodox shapes take some getting used to and need time. Could build on the JA and make it sportier with their usual lovely finishes and materials.
