Incoming 126660 D-Blue!
Have been enjoying the forum for a few weeks, thinking through what my ideal first Rolex would be. Thanks to all who share here I feel like I received a very quick crash course on the options and the market.
Started out thinking the Daytona was the one (white face), then got interested in the sky-dweller (again, white face, sporty and dressy) and then determined I’d probably prefer one sports version (sea-dweller) and a dressier watch (maybe a day/date or SD). Visited a couple ADs and got a feel for wrist presence and look/feel as well. Then the reality of the SS Pro “shortage” set in. I stopped into a few more ADs and they all had the same response; near impossible to get and you need to be a previous customer. I visited Mexico on vacation and the AD there had the same story. They received a green sub while I was in town but required I buy the a gold Daytona (bundling) for the privilege of snagging it. That didn’t seem like a reasonable ask so I passed. Today I stopped in to my closest AD (second visit and several email exchanges) to do some more “research” and try to decide if I’d go grey, wait it out or change gears and start with a dressier Rolex to establish myself as a client. The day-date didn’t feel like the right choice yet and I wasn’t feeling the DJ line. It was professional or bust and the d-blue was going to be my starting point. Only question was would they be able to get me one or would impatience win out and I’d go grey. The clerk said, “can you give me a moment?”, and I had a feeling something great was about to happen. He came back with a 126660 D-Blue and said it’s mine if I want it. Done deal, first Rolex down. I know I shouldn’t feel “lucky” (it’s a mass produced watch) but based on what I’ve been reading here, I do. I asked the clerk what it came down to and he said, good timing and we were confident you weren’t going to resell the moment you walked out of here. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro |

Congrats! Got mine a few weeks ago and on the way to have the divers link removed. Wanted to give it a try based on feedback here.

I had to do the same for my SD50 as it would not fit right until I took out the divers extension.
Congrats on your DSSD, wearing mine for the past few days. |

Crazy how that works out. Love to hear about someone stopping by an AD and basically tripping into the watch they want. Congrats on the find.

I haven’t been here long but it seems like Jan has been a big month of deliveries vs dec/nov. AD certainly confirmed it yesterday. Slow holiday season due to lack of inventory but a big Jan so far. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro |

D-blue will most likely be my next watch, after some serious waiting of course (unlike some lucky individuals) |

Congrats. Since I too kind of fell into my Sub, I love hearing how people ended up with their watch hardly expecting it.

Congrats on that beauty! Wear it in good health. I asked the same question to my AD when they only had me wait 3 weeks for the 5167a! They just said don’t ask... we trust that you’re not a flipper.
I could have easily walked out the door and made $10,000 Happiest moment ever! I’m sure this is how you’re feeling right now
