Guys. Help me out. Panerai GMT.

I am about to pull the trigger on a Panerai GMT. I would like one that is NOT the 44 MM but instead a 40 or 42.

I really like the 244 and it seems to be everything that I want.

Suggestions? Are their others that fall into these specs?

Also, how does the smaller size affect the resale value?

What would be a good price for a 244?

Also, are there any specific Panerai sites that have a sales board where I might find one?

I am a novice on PAMS, so please excuse me if these are rather uneducated questions.

Thanks,

Richard

40mm don't hold their prices as well as the 44mm, but if you buy secondhand and get a good deal it should hopefully hold its value a bit better, the best 40mm models to get are the El Primero Chrono models such as the 72, 74, 121 and 122.

The 244 is a sweet looking watch, if you can find one at a good price then i'd be tempted to say go for it, but do try the 44mm watches first (like the 88), i say this because i went for 40mm, never felt i would fit a 44mm, suddenly my last 3 PAMs have been 44mm

Best places to look for Panerai on the internet are, www.paneristi.com, www.timezone.com and here in the classifieds, a word of warning though, paneristi has had a few cases of dodgy sellers, but it's like that with any place with high priced items, ebay of course is another place to try as a few dealers use that as well.

Thank you Ryan!!!

So what would be a good price for the 244?

A quick search tells me that the going rate is just under $6000, i'm not too sure if it's worth going that way if you can even get a 10% discount from an AD, that would get you the 244 for $6400. It might be worth asking on paneristi.com if there's any ADs near to you with one for sale

Get a 44, you will regret it if you dont....

Also, resale on the 40 mm is HORRID! If you buy 40, buy used BUT you will wish you bought 44 when its said and done....

The 98 very well may be my next Panerai, I love it!

GMT and Alarm, limited production.....

I wil admit I wish they had a luminor with alarm, I just would
like the toughness of the luminor for travel BUT the 98 will do!

Ah, the 98, quite possibly my least favourite PAM going, it's like the anti-panerai, i mean a Rad in 42mm, it's got two onion crowns, it has an alarm for god sake, is there anything else they could have done to ruin it
