Heeeeeeellllp

So, I'm doing the whole bezel change out with the snap-on tool right?

The darn black bezel won't go into this ring no matter what I do.

Am I doing this right? I've followed jocke's directions but there is no way my fingers can push this in. It's warped the darn bezel a little. Is this normal?

Obviously I can move it back, but how difficult is it???

Freaking out in FL!

Do you have the right sized insert?

yes, it's for a 16710 and it's off a 16710.

It's a black bezel going in place of a pepsi

Apparantly, you are not doing it right! Take it to a watch repair shop before you break it!

Best advise I've ever heard

I got the outer ring back on so I won't lose the spring. It's off to the AD tomorrow. Watch as they tell me they can't put it on for me

Well there is your problem you tried to get rid of the Pepsi... That is just wrong...

I say take it in to your local AD. i took the whole bezel off mine and got it back on but not just the insert.

here is a better question can you get the Pepsi back in? if it pops back in no problem then something is up with the Black one. IMO

Well, my fingers are so jacked up after this...i really can't feel much. So, I think I'll just run to the AD at lunch. Luckily there is one right by me. I'm sure he'll roll his eyes when he sees what I've done.... I feel like a modern-day dumb @ss

Had a local watch maker change my bezel. Left the watch for the afternoon and cost $50. Kind of a rip but it was done perfectly, no scratches.

Hmmm...well it doesn't look too cool right now w/o a bezel. Maybe I'll try the ol' bribe with my hockey tickets. That's worked before. $200 worth of tickets. I appreciate the heads-up.

Has anyone else out there been charged more than $50???

Here's my advice...

You need to put the bezel (without insert) back on the watch. Then fit the insert in as much as you can with your fingers.

You'll get it in about 90%. The remaining 10% that has not seated will stick up a little.

Next place a cloth on the edge of your desk. Take the watch, bezel side down. Focusing your effort on that 10% of the insert that has not seated, press it against the edge of the desk---hard. You should hear it snap loudly into place.

I don't know what Jocke's technique is but if you've warped the bezel, I wonder if you're trying to install the insert while the bezel is off the watch.

I've never been able to get that to work. The key (for me) is to seat the bezel and then force the insert in. That way you won't bend the bezel.

Hope that helps.

Glad to hear it worked out. I ran into the same situation during one of my LV green/black swaps a while back. I'm sure you experienced the same thing I did...that being if you don't get it to work within the first few attempts, it gets harder & harder to accomplish. I realized it was due to 'warping' in that the inserts are slightly domed...but as we push harder & harder we flatten them out more, hence making the outer circumference of the insert ever so slightly larger.

For me, I had to add pressure (ever so slightly of course) to the insert to 're-dome' the insert...after that, it popped into place. I know your pain...my fingers were sore for a few days after that ordeal! But isn't it a GLORIOUS sound to FINALLY hear the 'POP' of the insert going into place!!!!!

My watchmaker would always swap bezels for free for me, or charge me at most $10 for a bezel swap and a bracelet change.

When I changed mine I first put the insert in the bezel and THEN the whole bezel back on the watch.

Glad you worked out!
