First watch for my daughter

Happy Saturday! My 2yo daughter loves wearing my Seiko S5 and occasionally my 116610 Sub (as I watch very carefully).

Any suggestions on a first watch for a future watch enthusiast?

haha nice. Mine (13) loves my watches. She has been reading up on movements and complications and wants a PP minute repeater lmao.
I gave her a Glasshütte automatic that she wears as her daily. I don't think I want her wearing anything more expensive than that for quite a while, although she's taken very good care of it.

My almost 4yo plays with my GShock and other watches of that type. Always rotates the bezels on my GMT and Divers and wants to press the pushers on my DaytonaC.
She is already slated to get my BLNR when I think she's ready, and my 2yo gets my SubC...

I guess it depends on what age you plan on giving your daughter a watch. As a first watch a GShock or a Sistem51 wouldn't be a bad choice, something more watch enthusiast and more $ perhaps a Tudor BB32, Hamilton, Tissot, etc...

If sky's the limit then that's a different animal...at the end of the day it depends on their age (moreso responsibility level I guess) and how much you're willing to spend.

When my daughter and I moved to Singapore back in 2010 I purchased her a Seiko 5. She was just starting high school and was very active in sports and other outdoor activities. Well the Seiko 5 survived just long enough for one repair under the one year warranty. A couple of months later it was broken again and the cost of repair was much more than the watch was worth (Junked).
I then purchased her an Oris 36mm dive watch at a good discount. This watch is alive and well today with one service since new. It is my firm belief that Oris is one of the best mechanical watches for the money. And that would be the watch that I would recommend as a first mechanical watch for a young person.
Of coarse I did purchase her a Rolex Datejust 36mm with a white roman dial for her graduation.
She now alternates between the Oris and the Rolex.

I wouldn’t put a watch on a 2 year old, let the kid grow up and buy an Apple Watch when they are 10+. Let them get an appreciation for time and buy something more special from 16 upwards before a graduation piece thereafter

When I was about 5 i got an awesome Mickey the mouse one. Then a Pluto dog one. Fond memories learning to read the watch and understand time.

I think red was forward blue back. See, now ive forgotten all the learnings ! It wouldn't of stayed on my wrist at 2 though. My little nephew is ready now he's about 6.

I love Rolex brand from childhood, my father give me his Rolex 1601 DJ TT jubilee, when I was 13 years old, I take care for years of that watch, was my treasure. A DJ for your daughter would be nice.

I bought my son a Seiko SNK805 in green.

https://www.amazon.com/Seiko-SNK805-.../dp/B000LTAY1U

It offers quite a bit for a younger enthusiast in my opinion. It’s an automatic, looks pretty nice stylistically and an exhibition case back, all for about $85. It’s been a great little watch, and it’s a Seiko which is obviously a brand with quite a bit of history as well as having higher end models in their line up to talk up with the kiddos. I don’t think there is a better bang for your buck watch for this type of buyer. It comes in other colors as well since you are looking for your daughter rather than the olive drab.
