A Rolex for my wife.

Hello folks,

My wife's boss is urging her to purchase a Rolex since she occupies an important office in their company as her boss feels it will help her to get a way with some deals. She currently wears a modest fashion watch which is about $4000 . She was offered a 0% interest loan on any watch she likes with really good payment terms but trust me we wouldn't want to go into something that would cost much since she is still gonna pay back,
any model you can suggest? She's 38 year's and likes rose gold, but does not like silver.

Odd is an understatement....

What “modest fashion watch” cost 4K?

I think she needs to quit her job because her boss sounds very superficial... or yes, have him buy her one.

This quarantine has yielded some crazy threads lately lol

Sounds like she should have got a $4000 Rolex instead of a fashion watch.....

Red flags should be flying high, with a boss like that.
Go buy a fake, and tell the the boss you're now ready to close the next big deal.

My god, she needs to leave there ASAP.

Life’s too short to work in and amongst such a superficial environment. Sorry OP but this is crazy.

If there are bigger and more important deals to come, what will this boss ask for next? I would be very uncomfortable working with someone like this if I didn’t draw the line right now and so there wasn’t any ambiguity. If the boss wants, they can always invest on a watch and make it available for important meetings. Even that is asking for too much.

if her boss thinks it is so important for his business to have his employees wearing Rolex, he should pay them wages that would allow them to maintain such a life style.

Lol some of the responses are so funny here! Everyone is a expert in other people’s lives....as weird as this situation sounds. Who is anyone to chime in on the relationship she has with her boss and what kind of mentality he has towards business. Maybe in her mine of work she caters to a more superficial crowd? Maybe her having a Rolex would be beneficial to the meetings? Some people see someone wearing a Rolex and automatically see them as a performer or successful. We can argue all day about the moral aspects of that. But what for? I personally thinks it’s super weird. But since I’m here I can make a suggestion. Go on Rolex . Com set a budget and see the options.... then ask her what she likes... pretty simple

Presumably something that will be easy to spot during Zoom calls?

What line of business are they in, and why does the boss think it will help?
And please let's see that $4k fashion watch.

Wonderful post! Boss man seems suspect. I’d say a skydweller. Or a Hugo boss.
