The perfect watch stand.

Hey there! I hope everyone is having a great time

I was shopping online for a watch stand couple weeks ago and I ended up frustrated because I couldn’t find anything I liked.

To my surprise the only “acceptable” product that I found was this one:

So after couple days thinking about it, I decided to start working on developing my own watch stand.

And that’s why I’m opening this thread, to ask for your opinions on how the perfect watch stand would be.

I did a little mood board and I started reaching out to product designers.

https://hawkx.pixieset.com/watchstand/

I’ll be posting updates of my journey in here.

Cheers

I like watch boxes myself. A box keeps dust out. A watch box can be placed in a dresser drawer for added protection from being knocked over. A stand does not fit in a drawer and can be knocked over. Watches collect dust on a stand. Stands are purely for convenience and showing off.

Exactly and Rolex being one of the toughest watches made today, no need for all the special resting stuff.

I think I have the model you posted, except the two-watch version (can actually do three - see my avatar) and I love it. I didn't want to shove my watches in the box because I rotate them daily, and it's much nicer than just setting them on the counter or dresser. IMO if you built something similar to this one it would be great.

good to know, but I can't think of any practical use case of a watch stand for me, maybe on someday in the future when my collection in terms of quality and quantity expands to a level that I will proudly host a watch exhibition/show :-)

The watch stand posted by the op looks tacky...a throw back to the 80s, regardless of the material used in its construction.

Considering Rolex as tool watches, there is no need for the stand to be over engineered and therefore the watchpod design is more than acceptable.

I quite like the watchpod idea and from some online reviews they were pretty affordable and available via amazon UK and US. Now seem not to be on either - anyone got a link?

That’s pretty smart actually, as long as the mouse pad doesn’t have a cheesy design or say “Windows 98” on it

Hahaha

But an all black one would do the job quite well

I know a watch stand isn't needed (neither are the watches we own at the prices we pay) but I made this one for my nightstand.

A 3$ apple watch stand works from dollarama. But the base is not sturdy enough, it might tipped off. Maybe i will put a piece of wide wood at the base.

That is a beautiful watch stand. I’m really interested in buying it and have found it myself online, thanks.

I have a watch box, but have a tray on my bedside table where I keep the watch I’m wearing at that time overnight.

That’s way to boujee! Tissue or paper towel is my stand of choice. Unfortunately, I am not joking.

Second the worry of tipping over to be taken into consideration. Not so much with these marble affairs but I normally use a makeshift plastic bottle neck to take into the shower and it went over when I had been drinking. Luckily the watch seems to have landed perfectly on the crystal as it was face down on a granite dresser.. No flattened areas located. Phew. Still working ahhh. It was my GMT btw. The thing is damn stable but knock it hard enough..

Same here.... I have a piece of leather from a shop trimmed and edges sealed, very similar to a mouse pad
