Two questions about Daytona

Hi
In what year is the production of the 116520 model suspended? The measurement of the case was still 38.5 millimeters?
Thanks.

If you can believe the "internets"...

It was always 40mm not 38.5mm.

Produced between 2000 and 2016, the reference 116520 appears largely identical to the previous generation. However, along with a new in-house movement, the Rolex Daytona 116520 also benefited from a number of other functional and aesthetic updates.

Hardly call them aesthetic updates....the layout of the Zenith 16520 dial/sub-dials makes far more sense, along with the black outline of the sub-dials (white dial version) makes it far more appealing than the boring silver outline on the 116520 (white dial).

It moved to 40 with the 16520, previously it was closer to 37mm. New Daytonas are not 40, they are 39.5. They are essentially perfect IMO. Maybe the best size modern Rolex made. I absolutely hate the size of my 126610, i much prefer the smaller vintage sizes. Love the watch, size sucks.

It's crazy the difference a mm can make, but I do agree that the older versions of almost all models seem to be a more natural size and just generally less clunky. Just hoping to get a Daytona someday before they "upgrade it" to 41 or something silly. At the same time, I see guys posting on here that the current Daytona is a woman's watch and way too small for a man. Sure.

BTW, you've got the best avatar I've seen all day. Greg the Egg!!!

I believe the actual measurement of the case is technically 38.58mm

Unfortunately with the 116520 Rolex stopped brushing the lugs of Daytonas.
