New Rolex releases should be this month (March) Are you excited?

I remember a few years ago, when Basel was a happening event, we had a TRF member that posted updates every five minutes from his arriving in the area to walking in to the press release of the new models. It was 3:00 in the morning my time, but I eagerly watched. Now let’s FF to this year.

Am I interested? Yeah sure, I will check and see what is new, (I’d like a 41MM GMT if Rolex is listening ) but am I excited? Meh… For me anyway, the current state of affairs has really put a damper on my enthusiasm for seeing the new models. Even if they came out with one I was enamored with, without paying 15 times MSRP I won’t be able to purchase one until after I die anyway… so why be excited?

Are you guys excited about new releases or anyone else share my sentiments?

Eh, not really. Truthfully I'm a lot more excited to see if Omega updates the Planet Ocean this year. I'd love a no date version.

I have both the 41 sub and 126710, to be honest I really don’t notice a difference. I did notice a difference between the 11 sub and 11 gmt vs 12 sub and 12 gmt case. They just updated the lugs on the GMT in 2018 and has the new movement. I don’t see another major change coming this soon, maybe a new color, but who knows.

Completely agree. I am curious to what they release, but I can’t get them anyways so I’m not excited. More excited about Omega and other brands honestly.

not really excited at all anymore about new Rolex releases.

Not gonna be available to 99.99% of people anyways.

I'm with you. With the way things are now it's all irrelevant to me. I am resigning myself to the fact that I likely won't get the new 124060 sub for my birthday, despite my AD repeatedly telling me over the last year whenever I visited that it shouldn't be a problem.

If I can't even get a basic sub, there's no way I would even be able to get any of these other new releases if they did something fun and unexpected. I am not as interested as I used to be... I still like reading about vintage models and if things calm down there I'll probably work on starting to collect a vintage piece or two.

It is opening my mind to the possibility of pivoting and looking at other brands. I really like the Breitling Super Ocean 42 on rubber and JLC has some beautiful pieces that I would love to look at.

This years releases are going to piss me off.

Know why?

They will be discontinuing models that I never had the chance to see, let alone purchase.

They need to not discontinue any models until supply catches up.

Yea I love seeing new releases. Probably won’t want any of them but ya never know and that’s the fun part.

At this point I’m mostly hoping for a new green crystal blue dial Milgauss.

I’d like an olive green novelty as well. Maybe an olive daytona 41 with a high beat movement.

A new dress watch lineup would be cool to see. Maybe some left field square shaped stuff or new metals.

No, I’m not but my friend’s friend knows someone on social media who heard from an AD that they heard from someone at Rolex that a ceramic Explorer 2 is coming. I’d say that’s as good as a guaranteed new release, the wait list is already six years long. With any luck by 2030 I may be able to buy one.

I'm excited to see what they release, but not much else. Not like I am gonna get my hands on one of these watches any time soon.

I am still waiting for the TT SkyD Jubilee since the day after it came out last year.

I always enjoy the hoopla of the new releases although with one exception I haven’t immediately gone “on the list” for anything. Never say never but since I just added a piece last week, highly unlikely anything this year will have me calling my SA.

That would be nice. I'd take date at the six instead of the three any day.

Always fun to see what's new from Rolex. Regardless, I'm quite content with what I have so will not be a buyer anyway.

After many years in the shadows, the YM-line has started to gain some momentum. I’m pretty sure they’ll capitalize on that this year. If a Titanium YM is released, wow. If not, some new cool YM-configurations is my bet.

But I’m more curious to see what Omega does thb. Hoping for an updated and slimmer Seamaster.

I get excited every year. I have to say this year I could care less. The way the market has gone and is going it just makes me sick. Sure give me a 2-4 month waiting list and a chance of hope I would be ecstatic. But when a simple OP or DJ is a dream now? How can anyone get excited. It's like winning the lotto. But I still visit my AD and hope.
