Come on lets see those 5811 and 5968A wrist shots
My local AD has every case filled with PP right now. In fact I was there yesterday buying a wedding anniversary gift for the mrs and saw them swapping out models to display. Most of them are assigned already. With 3 Nautilus and 3 Aquanauts on display I am sure they have more in the vault. Hopefully one is mine as soon as they get more in. Long shot but oh well. I have PP money set aside burning a whole in my pants.
But in the mean time lets see those Aquanauts and Nautilus wrist shots!! A man can dream. |

Yesterday OP said in another thread he turned down 2 Pateks in the past 6 months but AD still put his name on a 5968A that came in not too long ago. Afraid I don't understand - did he pick it up given that the cash is burning a hole in his pants? |

We get told so many things making it very hard to tell the truth from fiction sometimes. I love having this forum as a means to learn and to share my passion for watch collecting. I did a terrible job of wording my thoughts at the same time trying to be vague about what I was told. My over exuberance lead me to start this thread. Please understand I take everything I get told as a he say she say until I see it for myself. I have been assigned the 5968A. It is at my AD, but I was told I had to wait till they get more to replace the stock. But then I was offered to move my name to the 5811 which is also at my AD. Now anything can happen from the time it goes from my AD to my wrist. Who is to say a more established client does not come in and demand they get those pieces. I am SOL. I am ok with that as I have no control. I am pretty confident the 5968A would be mine but not the 5811. That is where the excitement came from. I would be super excited for the 5968 but come on, a 5811!? And the person who mentioned earlier saying the pieces on display were for display purposes only is incorrect. Some of the pieces are in-fact for sale and the rest are already assigned meaning being sold. But obviously the ones on sale are not the popular pieces. If he/she works at my AD or for Patek directly, then I apologize and stand corrected. So take all the comments about display only, you are assigned a certain piece, AD's were told to display more pieces and not just the in the vault, the AD's have tons of Rolex in the back, the Rolex's in the case are all empty with no movements and not for sale, and my favorite is, yes we have you on the list, as all he say she say. All I know is, this is part of watch collecting and the knowing or hoping we will eventually get the call. All superficial I know. My worse nightmare would be if I got a call saying they had multiple watches on my list in, and to come pick them up. I probably could not afford it first of all. And what is the fun in that. Plus they always come out with new stuff. If you made it this far reading, you are probably more confused. So can we just get back to 5811's and Aquanauts? By the way, I would be super excited for the 5905 or 5205. And I stand corrected. I was offered 3 that I turned down. Kicking myself for turning down the new 5935A. I did not even know about the release. Just saw it as being "pinkish" and needed time to do my research. Of course they moved to the next person right away. |

So it is only wishful thinking that my name is the "only" one assigned to that specific model. Even if I was told that. If I do not get it this go around, then I am sure sooner or later. Yes the models I speak of are in stock and not incoming. |

I had 5968A memorized as the 40k watch it was when I expressed my interest a few years ago. Not anymore. If you want to pony up for white gold the 5968G may well be easier to get than 5968A. Good luck!

You are 100% correct. I forgot about the G model. I think they had one or it is still there. But it was assigned from what I was told. What is crazy is how the 5811 costs less than the 5968G which has way less gold. And I never use a chrono function. But looks cool however.
