RSC NYC: Sent watch in under warranty.

Hi guys, just sent my watch in for warranty work. I’ve read some bad stories about (like new) watches that come back from RSC looking mangled. Asking anyone for positive experiences and stories regarding RSC work. And what would happen if they did accidentally damage the watch?

I have submitted multiple watches to RSC over the years and have never had a problem with them being damaged during service. I have seen the results of damage in posts and it is always concerning. What are you going to do? Not get the watch repaired/serviced? At some point someone will need to work on your watch. My biggest issue is always how long it takes to get the service done. It seems much longer than it actually is because I miss the watch. Good luck and let us know how it turns out.

Never believe everything you read on the net, myself been wearing Rolex watches for over 50 years. And have many many Rolex watches serviced by several RSC world wide and never ever had any problems.
PS What warranty work was needed.?

Thank you for the response and explaining the positive history that you’ve had. Exactly, the watch needed work, so i agree its my best option. Just nervous, and like your self hate being without it for so long. And if something was to happen, i just dont know how it would be rectified given its brand new and would hate for it to be polished. Will keep this thread updated!

Rolex does excellent work, and the Internet is, well, the Internet. Rest assured RSC will service your timepiece in a timely manner and she will come back to you in exceptional condition.

RSC is superb in carrying out their duties, you wouldn’t have a problem at all.

One of mine came back with some small scratches on the PCL clasp. It was a brand-new watch with issues right out from the AD.

It's like reading reviews on anything. People tend to make the effort to write it up when something goes wrong. The 99% who are satisfied tend not to post.

Hey padi56! I’m relieved to hear about your positive experience. My crystal had a misaligned cyclops, it was not terribly off but still something i couldn't get over. It was effecting my enjoyment of the watch.

Used them multiple times without any problem. Most recently a 25 year old 18239 in which they just did a movement service. Often times I have told them movement service only without case/bracelet polish which they have always obliged.

Hope all the positive stories make you less worried.

Myself never had a bad experience with an official Rolex owned RSC.
I did have a very poor experience with an AD so called service centre, never again.

Thanks for the response Joli! Sorry about the poor experience with that AD. Used my local AD to send my watch to RSC, they seem nice! First time using them since moving.

Like anything that's done in large numbers on a global scale, there will be exceptions or outlying examples.
I've had RSCs do magnificent work overall with one exception of a repair that was a bit below par despite me stating no expense spared when I put it in.
It was a relatively minor cosmetic thing that should've been picked up but it slipped through in the process and was eventually rectified later on.

This advice is coming to you a bit too late but I’d recommend photographing your timepiece prior to shipping, documenting the packaging of your timepiece (video) and then again after receiving it.

NYC RSC removed some dust on the dial of my 14060 under warranty. I was a new watch owner at the time and thankfully after posting about my experience here, some concerned members asked if the watch was pressure tested after the watch was initially opened up. After inquiry, I found out that it was not and after some back and forth with management - they eventually agreed to have me bring the watch back in and have it tested. They handled it properly in the end and I imagine the initial lack of pressure test was an oversight, however, this was my honest experience with NYC.

I sent my GMT Master II BLRO to the Dallas RSC some years back and it came home looking like it did in 2000 when it rolled out of the Rolex factory. First class experience all around. Great communication with the RSC keeping me abreast of what the watch needed and asking my permission before making any changes.

I have had multiple watches serviced by either NYC or Dallas RSCs multiple times and have never had an issue. I enjoy my watches returning to me looking and working as close to new as possible.
I'm sure they occasionally they mess something up but IMO, the odds are very small.

Copy that, i have photos prior to shipping. Local AD took care of shipping and packaging. Hopefully i dont have to use the photos for any discrepancies. Also isn't it true that RSC will take pictures of the watch upon arrival?
