One of many reasons why this watch’s value will go nuclear.

No doubt it’s the pinnacle of what a modern collectable Daytona should be, and is likely everything a serious Daytona collector would want (ie those who own several Daytonas, and have for several years, maybe a vintage Daytona here and there etc), and I hope those collectors can get their hands on one. Surely John Mayer qualifies there.

BUT I still have a hard time believing the hype that these will be rare by production volume (demand is a different story). It’s on the Rolex website, not off catalog, and there are more celebs wearing this first 6 months after announcement than I think I’ve seen wearing a rainbow ever. I think far more of these will be made than we think, similar to the yellow gold/green or white gold/blue versions previously. That significantly impacts one half of the “go nuclear” equation of supply and demand IMO. Time will tell.

As a guitarist, there’s nothing worse than a watch too tight while playing. Better to be loose, especially if it’s a watch with heft.

And besides that, I don’t think it looks all that loose …. Especially considering the orientation of his wrist while playing
