Got the call but not from local dealer - 40mm Explorer and first Rolex

Well, I've been on the list locally for 8 months...at the advice of a friend I went to visit a shop in DFW where he got his date just. So I did that. They were super nice, sweet and told me exactly on the list where I was unlike my local AD. They also said expect the call in Feb.

Well loandbehold....I got it Thursday. Drove down Friday and picked it up! I hope I get the Rootbeer next, I'm also on the list for that and a couple others.

I'm super excited, I wanted a 39mm and was trying to get one for my 40th birthday a couple years back but they discontinued it. So I was SOL. The 36mm is too small for me. My wrists are 7 and 5/8th inches and while not big, a small watch like a 34 or 36 looks pretty tiny on my wrist. So when the 40 was announced I got on the list pretty quick.

Unfortunately it appears that my local AD is playing games because I've been on that list for 7 or so months now. But a small AD in a big metro treated me very well and I was on the list for 5 weeks and got the call.

Anyway since I've lurked for a million years here and rarely posted, I wanted to share :)

Good deal, I was on the list at one local AD, a very stuffy high end opinion of themselves store, swore I they would get me the 40 version ,no problem, that was in April, I ended up walking into a much smaller AD also near my home, and walked out with the new 40mm explorer! That was in June.
I wore it into the first store last month and when the salesman saw me walk in, he disappeared into the back. When I asked for him, they said he was at lunch ,,lol I could see him in the back !!
I won’t mention the store, but it’s in Pittsburgh. Anyone guess which dealer?
I’m glad you found your watch as quickly as you did, it is a great model and enjoy it .
