Super Cool GMT II BLRO Pepsi Story

Coolest AD Story

So I’ve been stepping outside the home sometimes in the evening and talking to a neighbor fairly often for a while now. We’ve connected over discussions about our children, history, music etc. Crazy enough, we’d never talked about work, and it was only recently when I was wearing my Panerai that the topic of watches arose. Of course, everything Rolex was discussed . . . for almost an hour.
“You know Rolex,” he said.
He did, too.
All of my life, I’d been a huge fan; however, most of my knowledge had come from you all on the forum. I have you to thank.
“If you could have any Rolex in the world,” he asked, “what would it be?”
I knew instantly, but I also knew instantly no one was getting these watches right now. This was especially true of someone like I, someone who
had no purchase history at any watch or jewelry store.
“GMT Pepsi,” I said.
I’d wanted one since I was a child.
“But it’s impossible,” I added.
It turned out this gentleman had an excellent job at an authorized dealer. I was blown away. He said he would see what he could do.
The sales manager of the store to whom he took the request said that Rolex and many ADs wanted the watches, certainly the special ones, on the wrists of true fans, not those who wished to profit. This AD, located in an affluent area (USA) with wealthy customers (of which I am not one), screened clients to try to stop the trend of flipping.
In a few days, I learned that, somehow, I would get the next available
BLRO; the management had agreed to make my dream an immediate reality.
A day later, I received a phone call.
“Oyster or jubilee?”
“I get a choice?”
“Yep.”
No doubt in my mind.
He assured me that the next GMT Master II BLRO PEPSI delivered to the store in that configuration would be mine.
Three weeks later, I received another phone call. This large jewelry store delivered on their promise. My watch had arrived (I think it was the first one they had received in a while).
The next morning, I went in and was sized for my new GMT BLRO on jubilee. Numerous members of the sales staff were kind enough to stop into the room to offer congratulations on getting the watch. They even gifted a Rolex book when I departed. I was extraordinarily grateful and always will be. It is currently my only Rolex. There are some ADs with incredible integrity and desire to help.

Great story, and wonderful neighbor you have, congrats. So Pepsi GMT BLRO are actually coming in, and you even got to choose your bracelet. This to threads spreading rumors of Pepsi being discontinued, and Rolex having problems with the red and blue bezel after 8 years of production and hundreds of thousands produced.

Awesome stuff!

I have an almost identical story to this, something really similar to me happened last month.

The next day I got a call and was asked, oyster or jubilee.

A week later, this was on my wrist ….

Just proves there's a Pepsi for anyone actually! You "just" need to have an influential friend or large sum of money. The rest is going right into the hands of flippers these days.

Great story to start the week! Congratulations!
A testament to being genuine and friendly, since you never know who you might be dealing with. And kudos to your neighbor for being so gracious.
