The brand new dayton for 37k as starting price only means it is going to come down very significantly. Couple of years ago this would have started at a much higher price point.

I agree it will come down but mostly because starting too high… when the 116 came out it carried a much smaller premium. If it started much higher today, I’d a) be shocked and b) be certain it would plummet as these watches hold no sustainable advantage over the 116s. Too similar (objectively) and subjectively will likely have equal number of people preferring prior as those preferring latest… |

Still waiting for proper review from a collectors point of view that owns both new and old ceramic Daytona. |

The new one looks sportier to my eye, and it also resembles a Zenith less, at least until Zenith adds a bezel ring.

I believe this comparison photo is more fair for both.
Old one is simply beautiful. New one also good but looking too vintage for a modern day watch. Big case, thin bezel, thin subdials, thin markers... Also - not relevant to subject but can't understand why people want to declare they are not a fan of a specific model under a thread dedicated to that model. Meaningless. |

Some of us don’t know the model numbers by heart. I probably should have refrained from commenting since it wasn’t a positive comment. Hope you enjoy your watch…

I'm liking the 12 series more and more. Head-on, I think it may even look better. From the side... I'm liking the 11 series better. Tough call!

126500 unboxing/review
I don’t have a horse in this race. I don’t have a Daytona nor will I get one anytime soon, but I like the new one better.

This is the best comparison photo thus far.
From my estimation, the new model looks bigger in terms of case dimension, lug to lug, and even dial. Based on these factors, I personally prefer the older model.

The addition of the metal rim is still the most striking change to me (though still subtle enough as to need pointing-out to a non-watch person), and it makes the 12-series a slightly busier design. Beautiful, but busier.
Both 11- and 12-series are gorgeous, but I think prefer the 12. |
