YM42 vs Sub 41

Has anyone compared how the 226659 wears compared to the new sub. Everything I see compares to the old sub. I have a 6.75" wrist and have an SD43 that is a bit too big and a YM40 Rhodium dial that is a bit too small. The Sub is just right on my wrist... Any comparisons would be great.

If the Sub is “just right”, you should be fine with the Ti YM.

The YM42 is not large compared to a SUB41.

YM42 vs Sub 41

I never compared them side-by-side. But FWIW, I have both the 42mm Seamaster Diver 300m and Submariner. I have 7.5” wrists and the Seamaster definitely wears bigger than the Sub, no doubt. And I’m pretty sure the YM42 has dimensions closer to the Seamaster than the Sub, perhaps bigger. My 2 cents…

This is the best way to evaluate this.

I have only tried on the ti YM42 and found it wears incredibly well on my 6.75 - 7.0 wrist. Every bit as comfortable as the 40 YM. I did find the 126610 to wear much better than my 116610 so I would hazard a guess that the case dimensions will work well for you as the added heft and height of the SD makes it a beast on smaller wrists IMHO. The weight of the YM you are looking at would be my only hesitation.

The ym42 sits nice a flat on my wrist and is very comfy, also adjustable with glide lock , I have a 6.75” wrist and I can tell you the sd43 feels more bulky.

Same wrist size as yours and I love my sub date. One month of ownership and it's my daily driver. Far more comfy than the 42mm Omega smp I owned in the past.

I have both, and I think the 42 on oysterflex wears more comfortable than the 41, it will look a little bigger on the wrist, but i think it looks better, lays nice and flat. I have 7.25 wrist. And the 42 in white gold is in a totally different league than the sub-41. Don't let anyone kid you that Rolex white gold looks like SS. The subtle gold hue is just mesmerizing.

I had both and have flat 7.5” wrist. Preferred Sub size. Both fit great but felt YM42 dial was a tad too large if had to nitpick.

I think they both wear comfortably and look great. Love how the glide lock on the YM locks in that elusive fit with the OF, and the wider bracelet of the new subs.

But then again, I don't really see it as a one versus the other sort of thing...I love the contrast in look and feel each one brings after wearing the other. In your shoes, if the SD feels too big, that's the one I would move for the sub. My two cents.

I say this because I have both. The YM42's black bezel gives the impression of an identical size.:justekiddi

The dial of the YM42 is a little larger, but above all much more readable. The bubble is better proportioned, it seems less cramped. I prefer the YM42 and indeed this glow with gold has nothing to do with a steel watch.

Thanks all - Very helpful - I am realizing that part of the size issue is the size of the dial making it look larger - I have tried both on separately, but never together. I think the dial made me feel like the YM42 was much bigger - the white gold sub blue is something I need to figure out if I like vs larger dial on YM42....

Here’s a comparison with the WG sub. I had it for a short time but realized the blue bezel wasn’t something I wanted to wear as a daily. Traded for the YM42 here.

I have both and the YM42 is my daily. Looks very different on the wrist with the matte bezel.. The rounded case adds a bit of softness to the slab side of the sub. Both great watches.. if I had to pick one it would be the 42 but like I said luckily have both

Funny - for me the SD43 feels bulkier, but looks smaller. I have realized that it must be the dial size. When I had them on together I was not really paying much attention, but now that want to get something irritated that I didn't really look...

Thanks all for the comments - I have been able to now try on the YM42 next to my SD43 and can see it wears smaller and looks smaller (thought it looked bigger for some reason). Still struggling (and saw a YM40 in rose that looked good too....). I can see why people end up with such big collections ;-)

Finally tried on white gold sub. Wow - it looks good. Was display only…. Blue pretty bright in shop for daily, but those lights make everything look brighter. I still struggle between YM42 and Whitegold sub. May come down to what comes available first…. Also tried on white gold sea dweller display model. That looked good but really looks like steel.

Right....maybe a miss print. For what its worth,it will boil down to a PM on oysterflex or full bracelet.
